watched a good war film last night
most likely mention here before, Fortress of War (Brestskaya krepost)
About the Russians defending the Brest fortress against the invading Germans in Belarus during WW2. Top movie up there with the best. Go rent it out this Christmas :yep: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zain8Mz5SWg |

^ top movie Jim, one not to miss. I give it a personal rating of 9.5/10 :DL, it would of got a 10/10 but the first 23min is slow pace, then all hell breaks loose. Russians charging forward at the germans with meat clevers, bits of wood because they lacked weapons blew me away.
My favorite war film is Saving Private Ryan, Fortress of War sits right along side it. |
If it was originally Russian made am I to presume it has been dubbed or are there English subtitles?

Thanks for the tip, kiwi, looks like a good movie. It also sounds like they tried to be historical accurate.
The German wiki page states that nearly all characters, except for the narrator, are based on real people. Quote:
Sometimes even reading the German title of a movie feels like drinking cold puréed liver with broccoli juice... :dead: |

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...t_Fortress.jpg Of course the German translation is different: "Sturm auf Festung Brest" - storm on Brest Fortress... more dramatic names for the unwashed (Kraut) masses. |
