Crashing near any major Harbor
Pretty much, whenever Im near any major harbor, like truk, if I try to go to the persicope, external came, or just look around from the bridge, SH4 crashes. Sometimes if I go down to 1 time compress, and wait a while I can look for a bit, but a crash happens shortly after.

You might want to post this on the RFB thread. Since your mods are related to it, you might get a quicker response.

It sounds like you may need to try the 4 gig patch. This is just a small, easy to use utility that lets programs you choose ie. SH4 use more than 2 gigs of memory. I believe you need more than 2 gigs of memory for this to work. You could get it in the D/L section under "Patches".
I use this utility not only in this sim, where I was expeienceing crashes nearing harbors and large convoys, but in my flight sims as well (BOB2WOV, and IL2 1946). This eliminated all my wierd crashes in all these sims. I also want to say, I'm running almost the same MOD setup as you. Give this a try. |
It says my SH4.exe is a unknown version. Im thinking thats because I got my SH off of steam. Any ideas how to get it to work?

I had the same experience as Fish40. Running the mod that allows the game to use more memory worked for me too. No more crashes.
:yeah: |

Never dealt with Steam, so I can't help you there. May I suggest if you have the means, order the Gold Edition of SH4. This DVD is all you need. No more probs. with Steam. |
I could get gold, But Im only going to get it as a last resort. If anyone has ANY idea of how to get the 4gb patch to work with steam, Id love to hear it.
EDIT : Using google, I found a 4gb patch that works for steam. Havnt tested if it works, but Ill post back if it does Edit 2 : It appears to work, I was able to look around pearl without crashing :D |

That's a good app there Jan! I use it myself, and have for about a year now. Almost never have a CTD anymore. I won't say never, as never is a long time, but it's been a long time since I have.
