Question on Mods (Stock Game to Full Realism)
This has likely been asked before but in indirect ways or as an aside in discussing the many mods available here. I'm wondering if there's any documentation here that lays out the mods in a stepped arrangement similar to the "Realism" options screen within the sim. The result would be a chart of sorts that tells you which mods you can add that gradually change the sim from very basic to full realism.
Mods that fix things would be part and parcel to the chart but would not be characterized as a "step" towards realism per se. If anything they would simply be noted as a benefit within a particular mod or as stand-alone fixes that would apply across the board regardless of where you are on the realism ladder so to speak. I want SH3 (and SH4 for that matter) to function as closely as possible to the original Silent Hunter while being able to enjoy all the features that SH3 brought to the table. I enjoy realism but am not so hardcore that I would want to turn off things like auto TDC or map icons that indicate friendly or enemy to name only a couple. It seems to me there are a lot of packaged mods here that force you to play at higher realism than you may prefer. Is this a pipe dream? I haven't spent much time with SH3 for quite a while but recently watched "Das Boot" and the old itch returned to get back on patrol. I would want to do the same with SH4, too as the Pacific is where I cut my teeth on sub sims back in the happy times of MicroProse and the flood of games we enjoyed back in the late 80's through the 90's. |

As for mods, there are many. You can start by checking out this thread: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=170090 |

The best bet when looking for mods to increase realism (or do anything else, for that matter) is to figure out something that you'd like to add to the game, or something that you'd like to see changed or enhanced or removed entirely, and then ask if there's a mod out there that does that. :yep: |

I got an infraction on my record for pretty much the same BS in one post. I do believe this guy has done more then just one! :hmmm: Maybe I'm special? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfFRv_1XdDM :D |
Hijacked?
Anyrate! I'm with Frau Kaleun on this one, figure out what you want and ask for that. Failing that, do as others have done, and set out to fix it yourself!:yeah: For example, I'm too lazy to manually plot due to time constraints, and I like the colored contacts because I believe that my watch officer should be able to tell the difference between one of ours and one of theirs, so when I found that NYGM "fixed" that, I found that item and returned it :DL easy-peasy! You can do it! also Ask and ye shall receive! Oh, I didn't read how many posts you've made... If you've tried all that, I don't know what to say, other than "Try everything?" or BE MORE AGGRESSIVE! :rotfl2: |

Infraction issued. Be careful with what you do next, you are now on slippery grounds. It is my belief that you can be a nice, happy and valuable member for the community when you polish some rough edges. Don't prove me wrong, OK? :stare: |

EDIT: 'Waited' for him to act would have been the better term. 'Letting' him act implies that he requires permission to moderate, and this is not the case. Hitman's probably the best moderator we've got. EDIT 2: Privateer, in regards to the warning infraction, I regret assigning it and have for some time. It seemed appropriate when I did it, but in hindsight, it was the wrong thing to do. I hope that you'll accept my apology, but I understand if you won't. |

No apology needed Mate. I was a bad boy and you slapped me across the knuckles. :haha: It should also stand as a warning to others that anyone can be tagged if they step out of line. :yep: |
