Osborne says EU treaty veto helps protect UK interests
Here we have the UK governments side of the issue.
As a Labour party member, for the first time I can honestly say I am happy with the decision taken by the Tory party: Quote:

How is the mood in Europe. Is Britain being made out as the enemy yet?
I seen them villified in German sources, but .. There is a reason they never gave up their currency. Villainous or foresight?:O: I am proud to be your child. |

It is said that since the war ended in 1945 and the union was formed, never before had a single nation been that vigorously been singled out. I can understand some of the British arguments for staying out. I only question whether the assunmptions on which these decisions base upon, are really that realistic and will hold their ground - this remains to be seen. Not a few people in brussel maybe would be happy if the union finally would get rid of Britain. The actual events on the summit however have little to do with high strategy, though. Imo Cameron simply overbid the cards he had, that simple, falling victim to a total failure in judging his situation at the summit correctly. He gambled, and lost. Whether the EU's intended future way will work or not, also is doubtful, of course. I still hope it collapses. I only wsnt to minimise the costs for Germany until then, since after a possible collapse the losses will already be considerably anyway. We must not needlessly waste reserves on the way there - we might need them then. |

IMHO I think Europe (more like, the elites) wanted to consolidate themselves as a confederation of states (Like America) to rival the world economically. They failed to realize vast cultural differences amongst the populace that sunk this...How to put this... Some folks are lazy... And we in America are in awe at European 6 week a year vacation .:D Most are lucky to get insurance. So ya know, could be worse for you guys.:yeah: |

As our english teacher said:
"What do you expect from an empire - to join a union ?" :O: We will see, the UK has done everything to block decisions of all kinds, after all England only sees Europe as a delivery area for their own products - there is no ideal or plan to enhance or help the EU to improve. And despite all boasting Cameron is not happy with this. I think going on and making decisions within the EU will now surely be easier, but only time will tell who was really wiser .. |
