2. Use JSGME. 3. I would say TMO or if you wanna try a surface ship mod. 4. Put JSGME in your program files Ubistoft folder then create a folder called MODS it must be capitalized the start JSGME do not worry about the first part click next and put your mods in the folder you named MODS and use JSGME to enable/disable them. 5.TMO 2.2 requires TMO 2.0 just install it AFTER TMO 2.0 and when it says would you like to overwrite click YES. |
Do you also recommend any other mods to me?

For mod links start in the Popular Mods Sticky in the Mods forum.
I suggest GFO (Game Fixes Only), which is a mega mod designed for adding compatible mods to the stock game. The major mods are TMO, RFB, FOTRS and GFO. RSRDC is compatible with TMO and RFB and version RSRDC 1.4 is compatible with GFO. RSRDC simulates the routes of Japanese TFs and Convoys. It is quite accurate. For targeting and evasion aids, see the Skippers Bag of Tricks sticky. The 3D TDC and Radar Range, and the OTC (Optical Targeting Correction) mods are sophisticated mods for manual targeting. If you don't select those, use the Easy Aob mod. The toughest game out there by far is TMO2.2 combined with with OTC when you elect manual targeting and utilize OTC's real scopes (optional) and Toyyko's Revenge (optional) features. The dds in TMO are tough, but the enemy in TMO with the options selected above will kill you. If you are ready to blow your mind after the above, go the MOBO forum and download aaronblood's MOBO program. |

Anyway, I just wanted to thank you sir :salute: This is an EXCELLENT post and it answers just about every freakin' question I had about the current state of SH4 mods. I see that Trigger Maru has been hugely updated, now there's the Game Fix only mod, a campaign mod, WOW! It's incredible, I love this place. Again, having not touched a submarine game in years, I was a bit lost and wondering where to start over. Thanks for pointing the way, I'll be checking out those mods :) |
Likewise. I drifted away from SH3+GWX when I lost the disk (somewhere among my books probably). However I've just bought SH4 (and 5) and was wondering where to start. This thread has been a great help.
One supplementary question; I've bought the steam versions and I have no experience of steam. Do I need to do any modding differently? |

With all supermods, it's good to keep additional mods to a minimum so as not to tromp all over the intended behavior of the supermod. But luckily, with JSGME you can check it out, if you don't like the effect, yoiu can remove the mod and try again. Mod soup (registered trademark by Kapt Lehmann--should get an award for all-time best modding term) is fun and sometimes gives you some bizarre effects. It's all reversible. Have fun! |

OTC works with TMO 2.0/2.2, but not TMO2.5 as of the date of this post. CapnScurvy, the creator of OTC, has indicated that he is working on a version compatible with 2.5.
If you want to go to the dark side, OM is a very fine mod. |

"OTC for TMO 2.2 September, 2011 This edition of OTC is compatible with "Trigger Maru 2.0" and it's "TMO update 20_to_22" mods. These two mods must be activated in JSGME before the "OTC for TMO 2.2" mod." The thread does not mention TMO 2.5. I would be surprised if your mod combination is totally accurate, but CapnScurvy should know. |
