Refresh my memory of a way to fix corrupt saves
All of a sudden, out of nowhere, every save game on my extensive career went corrupt. I tried making the SH3 folder in My Documents read only and that didn't work. I remember a long while back a trick that fixed this for me the last time this happened that involved copying or renaming some file. For the life of me, I can't remember specifically what file or files to do this to. It was posted here, but I'll be damned if I can locate it. Anyone remember how to do this ?

Go to your SH3 folder in MyDocs and add a letter eg. 'x' to the save title.
You can delete the 'x' later if you wish but I've never saw the point. |
Crap. It doesn't want to work. I think the whole career is gone. :wah:

If you can see the files, take them out and start a new career.....return to port, save the game, return the save files and reboot the game.

That didn't work either. I think it's a lost cause. The whole career went belly up.

Did this problem occur during 1943 by any chance? If so others have also experienced something similar see http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=189886 .

Here is what I wrote a very long time ago and it still works
As you come to a place to save( on the water , not under it) make your REAL SAVE then return and make atlease one FALSE SAVE ( I use XXX for my first one then XXXXX for my next one ) then exit.
When you return to load try the last save, it may work, so far for me the first one ( in this case XXX ) loads. When you save DO NOT use the same words such as Tanker , cargo ship, or what ever. I do not know but it seems like a simular issue in SH4 of over writing the saves. That will leave you in a big wide Ocean all alone. Good luck. SNAKE1937 |
