Victorian Admirals available

some recent news over at Totem http://www.totemgames.ru/ Finally they can start on the new engine with Spanish-American War and hopefully Russo-Japanese War! :D

We thought that gamers in Europe and the United States conflict between Japan and Russia are not interested. If not, then I really surprised. What other naval conflicts?

The Russo-Japanese pre-dreadnoughts are just so cute, but the "other" company made its game such a jump thru hoops affair that I never rode to the sound of the distant guns. :D

WWI would be nice too of course.

I think the Russo-Japanese War and the Spanish-American War would both be interesting to the average pre-dreadnought enthusiast, since they have to be a history buff to even know that they occurred.

On a semi-related note, I had the good fortune to research and write the description for a diary of a US Marine in the post-Civil War Navy serving on USS Powhatan, and in the process learned about the Virginius Affair.

Had Spain and the US gone to war in 1874, Spain would have likely swept the USN from the seas. The diarist talks about the naval exercises in the Dry Tortugas, including spar torpedo practice. There wasn't a ship in the US Navy that could penetrate the armor of the newest Spanish capital ships, so the US plan apparently was to close and detonate the spar torpedo under the hull of the Spanish ships.

How does this game play?

I looked for a demo - but have not found one.

I looked on Youtube for some videos of someone playing it, and found nothing.
