So the tell me not to engage Destoryer on surface?
 

Well today in a game of multiplayer I did it anyway! funny thing was I came out with only 98 % hull entergty, had a friend record it.

Basicly what happened was the recording happened half way through the duel. We were both heading at eachother fast, I was underwater. I emergency surfaced and started using the flak on his front, nocking out 2 of the deck guns. Then my friend started to record, and the rest is history. I shot out the other deck gun and the other flaks, then hit the Depth charges while ramming it.

Every time I attempt anything like that on full realism in GWX campaign I get messed up badly. I have never sunk a destroyer from surface attack like that. I gave up trying long while back

Well, good for you. But I doubt it they could get away with it like that in real life.

In fact the only recorded happening like that turned out badly for the Germans. The u-boat surfaced behind a corvette, and the corvette's 40mm AA gun killed the entire deck crew before they could even get to their guns.

Peter Cremer in U-333 describes a running gun battle with the corvette HMS Crocus where he actually inflicted some damage on the escort. In return, he was critically wounded and a number of his sailors, including his 1WO were killed. U-333 sustained substantial damage but was able to eventually crawl home with help of a U-Tanker a couple of days after the action.

The game facilitates success and it is obviously a popular thing to do for some SH3 players but the reality was very different.

I thought the Narwahl mod for sh4 was OP. Sheesh man, is that vanilla?

Fun to try in a game, but pretty much out of the question if you've got a real life crew you're responsible for. :sunny:

Ya its vinillia, My friend don't wanna use GWX so I just have a GWX version for my career. This was basicly a "lets see what happens" moment, and somehow I didnt even come close to dying. I call hax. lol
