20 years since the death of a legend

Due to complications from pneumonia, made fatal due to AIDS, Farrokh Bulsara died on 24th of November, 1991. A man better known as Freddie Mercury. He was 45 years old

Quote:

a British musician, singer and songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Queen. As a performer, he was known for his flamboyant stage persona and powerful vocals over a four-octave range. As a songwriter, Mercury composed many hits for Queen, including "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Killer Queen", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "We Are the Champions". In addition to his work with Queen, he led a solo career, penning hits such as "Barcelona", "I Was Born to Love You" and "Living on My Own". Mercury also occasionally served as a producer and guest musician (piano or vocals) for other artists.

A very talented and versatile person, he was!

Yeah, I almost missed this anniversary yesterday. He's a massive influence on my view of music growing up - Queen was my favourite band all through my teenage years (and the only reason I don't listen to it as much today is because all their songs are pretty much implanted in my brain - I can hear them by just thinking of them :O: ).

The world will always miss you, Freddie!

I'd sit alone, and watch your light, my only friend trought teenage nights... :DL couldn't resist

Not one Queen song played on the local radio station until someone phoned them and reminded them :o

Well I never. I've got mixed feelings about Queen...I love their music and their work but it's tainted with some bad memories. I should really just focus on putting those to one side and enjoying the awesome.

Wembley 1986, I wish I could have been there, but alas I was only 2 at the time. :damn:

One of my favorite all time bands.

Between Freddie and the true genius Brian May (like a PhD in astonomy), how could you hate them?

Freddie had a voice of gold, distinct and no one can replace him.

I am putting in my Queens greatest hits CD now, thanks alot for reminding me.:D

The guy was one of a kind and an absolute legend.

One of the first albums I ever owned was a copy of "The Game" my older brother gave me. Not one of Queen's best IMO but it has a special place with me for that reason.

RIP Freddie

And I mean, a public icon who was privately a humble, even shy person AND was actually incredibly, mindblowingly talented. How many of those do we have these days, as opposed to posers and celebrities without real abilities?

I always found watching interviews with Freddie really fascinating. Away from the stage, he sounds and acts like a complete opposite of his stage persona - so much so that sometimes I wondered if it was even really him. And then he'd sing... :o

RIP Freddy :salute:

Just imagine how many great records we missed due to his early death...

On a lighter note:
Am I the only one to noticew that the OP did a series of "20 years ago" some time ago?
Does the Slovenian independence and Mercury's death have a connection? Did the Slovenian Mossad kill him because he looked like Tito?:
