About DirectX version of the game?
 


Hi everybody!

I would like to have information about the DirectX version in SHV: in the requirements, it's written DirectX 9.0C.

So, it's the same version used in SHIII, but the screenshots in SHV are more beautiful than in SHIII :06:

Or does only the equipment make the difference?

You should always use the most recent DirectX version. In this case DirectX 9.0C from June, 2010 I believe.

DirectX itself doesn't create the graphics, it's just the interface between your hardware and the games graphics engine. That's why the same version can be used for SH3 and SH5 yet the graphics are completely different.

The reason SH5 is better graphically is because at the time the code of the game was written the hardware for PCs was better. This means that the pixel shader version and vertex shader version of video cards was far more advanced. This allowed the programmers to do things in SH5 they couldn't do at the time in SH3. This is also why SH3 will always be a dinosaur - you can only push old technology so far. Frankly it's a waste of time to try and make something so old (SH3/4) any better. You will eventually hit a wall. SH5 is the future but it's so sad to see so many still chugging along with the dinosaurs...

So SHV has a great potential: why not a submarine type XXIII or type IX soon :cool: ?
