Problems in VMware Fusion?

Hi. I just installed SH3 (via Steam) into a Windows 7 virtual machine on top of VMware Fusion.

When I launch it, the opening video plays and then freezes to a black screen. Anyone else seen this? I can't explain it. Several other games play just fine including DW, etc.

What is the desktop resolution in the virtual machine? SH3 in Windows 7 chokes if the resolution is larger than 1024x768 pixels. ;)

Interesting. Thank you.

Yes, I am way above 1024x768. I will fix and re-test.

Is there a fix for this or am I always stuck in this res? I had SH3 installed last year on a Windows 7 PC and I don't seem to recall this...

With my Nvidia GPU there is the option to make it scale to fullscreen (while maintaining 4/3 aspect ratio). But I do not know what sort of GPU VMware simulates, or how it uses your hardware GPU in the VM.

There are widescreen mods for SH3 though. I just do not have a link to them. You may want to search for it, or wait until someone else suggests it.

Nope. That didn't do it. Same result with 1024x768. Freezes to black right after intro movie skip.

Well, there is a very good chance that this is related to virtual hardware. I have no experience with VMware at all, or Macs (implied by Fussion) so I can't help further.

Since you got the game through Steam it should not have the dreaded Starforce copy protection anymore. I'm out of ideas.
