Oh good grief! The whale could almost certainly see them. I don't think they were in any danger at all. In fact, the whale might have come that close on purpose, just for fun.

I don't think if a whale breached that close to me, I'd consider it all that much fun...

Now, where's the wasabi?...

Jimbuna 11-04-11 03:33 PM

Certainly not an attack and who was it that was in their normal environment?

AVGWarhawk 11-04-11 03:55 PM

The whale was not close enough to be looking at lunching at anything but the krill. :O:

Are you saying...he's going for a quick krill?...or maybe he's a kriller whale?...

[runs for cover]...

Read Frank Schätzing'S "The Swarm", and you will never mention "fun" in one sentence with "whales" again. :timeout:

Does look fishy to me (no pun intended, or initiated, since whales are mammals and not fish!) For one, she seems *way* too calm afterwards. I think I'd be running across the top of the water to get back to shore!

I've talked to friends that say this is not uncommon.
They say it's just rarely filmed like this.
(Kind of like the Shark in a wave videos)
