No; you will never see a plane take off or land in the game because that is not an included feature, aircraft have a minimum height to fly at, and if they come into contact with something they will be damaged just like you cant park a sub on the sea floor without minor hull damage. It would be nice though ;) If you follow an aircraft returning to shore from a bombing run with the external camera, you will actually see that it crashes on the nearest hill. Always. Follow the US Heavy Bomber in Submarine School/Navigation training if you dont believe me.

I know about the deck gun; the reason is that a fleet carrier never came with a true cannon; 40mm Bofors Quad AA at the heaviest; I can easily put up a fix with something realistically small like a playable single 4.7" turret fore and aft for defence if you like? Truth is, you can't do much with this ship; apart from shoot down aircraft
