11/9 this is a test, or it something else ????

Yes they will control the horizonal and they will control the vertical, the Fed in their infinite wisdom think they should, interrupt day time broadcasting for three minutes or so on 11/9/2011, this will be the first of it's kind, a national wide emergency broadcast test. I think the fed has better things too do, than mess with my afternoon soaps, like do something about this stinking economy, or secure the border, leave the millioniares and billioniares alone and get out of the way so they can create some jobs. You want to see chaos have a government that has a switch to shut down tv and radio, this why we don't want a all powerful central government. I guess now, if we ain't good little boys and girls they will turn the tv off. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/did-...asts-on-nov-9/

Spreading the Fear.

Let's scare the heck out of the normal hard working people again (those with jobs) so we can continue to sit on our huge piles of cash and power.

So bloody negative. The road to Hell.

Which is scarier? A nationwide TV shutdown or the admission that yubba watches the soaps? :o

Yup well said, fear is utlimate tool of manipulation.
The scary part is, its possible they doing this 'test' in preparation for something real. :(

So this begs the question: is the first ever national EAS test really a big deal?
No, it doesn't beg the question, you idiots. It raises the question. RAISES THE QUESTION. Begging the question is when you answer a question with itself.

One of my pet peeves.

Like announcing martial law during next summer's nationwide "unplanned, homegrown, impromptu" riots?

It's funny because that's exactly what they said ahead of the 2008 elections about Bush.

So they do it in all the states every month just to check and do it on a local level throughout the country every week just to check and use it thousands of times for real every year either on a state or local level but this is the first time they are checking the nationwide coverage in one go.

This does raise two questions.
Firstly for blaze readers who are able to sign up for instant Glenn Beck news alerts...does this mean Obamas secret personal army of Nazi dentists is on the march to throw everyone into FEMA death camps?

Secondly for normal people, isn't it crazy that the system has only been checked up to a state by state level in all those years?

Although I was only a tiny bit serious with my initial post, I'm not at all surprised you jumped on it like a duck on a junebug.

The difference between 2007 and 2011 is, in 2007 nobody was laying the groundwork for mass protests and unrest by organizing violent flahsmobs in the spring and summer (which have curiously ceased), organizing union protests in various states across the nation, encouraging the race and faith baiters in this nation to get involved in class warfare, eat the rich protests across the nation, and all the other bollux we are bombarded with on a daily basis. You've read Saul Alinsky haven't you? You know exactly what I'm talking about.

In 2007 it was just words. In 2011 it is all deeds.

The Community Organizer-in-chief is rallying the troops, and everything is going according to plan. If it weren't for the internet, that is.

Darn that pesky alternative media... Alinsky didn't see that coming.

I knew you were only a tiny bit serious. At least I thought you were. You never can tell in GT.

I found it funny that everything that's old is new again:

What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.

What's crazy is that they check it so often that if it were used in a real emergency, I'd think it was just another test.

No.

Weekly EAS tests are mandated by the FCC, but are left up to the local stations to carry out when they desire, within certain guidelines.

This system has always been effective in the past, since the most likely operational need for an EAS broadcast would be at the local level.

This new system seizes complete control of the nations airwaves, at the discretion of a single federal agency under the Executive Branch. There is nothing locals can do to stop it other than turn off their transmitters, which would result in huge fines and probable loss of license.

You honestly cannot see the danger here?

It cuts both ways, when I was in Broadmore I wondered how they would know if it was a real nutter alert since they tested the alarm so often and when the alarm went off when I was in AWRE nobody knew what to do because it had never happened before.
But in truth you could see why each establishment worked it like that, the public would be reassured knowing the high security nuthouse had good working security measures, whereas a warning alarm from a nuclear bomb factory would scare the crap out of the whole region.
