Old Pulteney was crowned World Whisky of the Year in Jim Murray's 2012 Whisky Bible. The 21-year-old single malt scored a record-equalling 97.5 points out of 100. The whisky is matured in American oak casks and bottled at the Pulteney distillery in Wick, Caithness.
I hope I can find some of this, before the price shoots up too much just because of the award.

Whisky expert Mr Murray tasted more than 1,200 new drams before deciding on the winner.
Where can apply for this job? He gets PAID to do this? <cries>

US bourbons took the two runners-up places in the Whisky Bible awards. George T Stagg was named second best while 10-year-old Parker's Heritage Collection Wheated Mash Bill picked up third.
I don't trust this article. I'm going to have to get a bottle of each and see for myself.

The Old Pulteney is a very nice dram indeed. Not too petey. I'm thinking of getting a bottle for Christmas time. They have it for sale in my local Waitrose with a generous discount quite often.

Not as nice as my favourite Jura, mind, but lovely.

I'll have to try it, but I'm in college, so I buy the cheap stuff.

I much prefer the Irish brands such as Bushmills or Jamesons myself.

Bloody hell, why does this country have an ''embargo'' on good stuff :stare: I'll just have to drive to Scotland then and make a small detour trough Ireland ;)

An embargo on Scotch whiskey? oh I could never live there lol. Scotch is my thing, single malt only of course, none of that blend garbage.

Nah, we get scotch, but only the more commercial brands. Even if some are also good, the more rare, less known and far better are imposible to find

I'm not a big whisky drinker, but a friend poured me a Midleton that was very nice (and for someone who sticks more to wine, very smooth).
