How to get the MFM to work with GWX3.0

How do I get the MFM to work with GWX? in the past when I tried to run MFM with GWX I got a CTD when loading a campain. I am useing JSGME and any help in my noble quest with greatly appreciated.

The MFM works fine with GWX3, provided your system can handle it.

Most common reason for CTD during load with the MFM enabled is lack of memory.

If you have 2 GB or less total RAM for your system, it is unlikely that you will be able to run the mod under any circumstances. It requires a LOT of memory to load all those extra ships.

If you have 3-4 GB of RAM total on a 32-bit OS, you can try applying the 4GB patch to the game (which allows it to use more than the original limit of 2 GB) and see if that works. Depending on how much RAM you have and how much is available to the game itself when you run it, you might just squeak by.

If you are running a 64-bit OS, apply the 4 GB patch to the game and see what happens. Again, success will depend on how much RAM you have and how much is available to the game when you run it.

Most people cannot run the MFM without the 4GB patch; without it, the game can only use a max of 2 GB RAM and that just doesn't seem to be enough.

I could never get the full MFM to run on 2 Gigs. There's just too many new units being added to the game all at once. You're best to upgrade and install the 4 GB patch or add a few choice units individually from the mod. Either way, have fun! :sunny:

Yeah, with only 2 gigs total there's probably not enough to run the OS and necessary system processes plus the game with MFM included.

You can try adding the mod's ships one by one, manually, to see how many of them can be put in without overloading your system. There's also a "lite" version of the mod that adds fewer ships.

With only 2 gigs of RAM total for the system, I don't think the patch would help. There's no point in patching the game to use more than 2 gigs when there's never going to be more than that available anyway. If he can get his hands on some more RAM, though, that would certainly be an option.

That's what I did and it worked out fine. I'd recommend browsing through the .tga files to find your favorite models and then plunk the best ones in. Easy as pie... :03:
