No more Hank Jr...

Singing all my Rowdy Friends Coming Over, or whatever it is for Monday night football...

Seems he compared some GOP members playing golf with Obama and a few dems like playing golf with Hitler.

Then called in an analogy

Maybe Hank is just racist........

He didn't compare Obama to Hitler. He was simply trying to draw an extreme parallel.

Also this is relevant.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin's_law

It is the tactic of taking opposing things and trying to draw them as far apart as possible, usually evoking fascism or Nazism. Used as an attempted "argument ender".

Look through heated debates in more hostile forums, you will see that Godwins law applies. It started off as a humorous observation that holds actual scientific value.

So did you find it offensive, or simply a man expressing his opinion, as outlined in our first and most important amendment?

I think it was just a good ol boy who forgot how harsh the media can twist his words.

Did you even read the OP?

So when he said the President was a genocidal Nazi maniac and the Republicans were the Jews how did he think the media would twist his words?

He didn't make a direct blatant reference. He was simply trying to draw an extreme analogy as I said above.

Did you read the quote, or are you kneejerk reaction based? Seriously it was harmless.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ycn-10139619

The country-singer was on FOX & Friends and was asked to breakdown the GOP field when he said that the golf summit between Obama and Boehner was one of the "biggest political mistakes ever" and added "it'd be like Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu."

He never specified which one was which there did he?

Hmmm???

mookiemookie 10-12-11 12:08 PM

It was a poorly thought out statement, regardless of his intent, and since ABC/ESPN is a private corporation the first amendment doesn't apply here.

As I said in the NFL thread, I wish Faith Hill would say something stupid and then we could get rid of that awful Sunday Night Football intro too.

I think Kongo Otto got it right the first time.

He most certainly did.

Did you read the quote
That is a rather silly question.

Hey stop stealing my lines.

Did you read the exchange or just one tiny little snippet?
He was asked about his statement, who did he call the enemy?
So is the enemy the Nazis, are the Republicans the enemy?
Simple question for ya.
How many times in less than a minute did he specify who he was calling what?
A more complicated question for ya with three possible answers.
Was he off his face? genuinely just a dumb ignorant prat? a combination of the two?

Hmmm??? ...you didn't read what he said did you:O:

Yep, but we know which ones he was referring to Hitler don't we?

When you're that stupid any private agency has the right to send you packing don't they? He used his rights of speech and they used their right to dump him.....

Still, I agree to the hyprocrisy of it, if a liberal makes such comments seldom is it a problem.

Of course not.
Ok so its not too smart to you say that stuff on TV (unless you are a comedian) :DL it was just a silly joke - alot of hysteria over nothing. People should lighten up.
Its not like it was ever gonna hurt Obamas feelings or anything, he wont give a rats.

I agree with you there! But racist accusations would not surprise me either. That card has been played a lot as of late.
