The Garbage State
Dear friends, colleagues, fellow skippers and what not,
I have completed my assignment in Cleveland, Ohio. Life there was a constant hustle and bustle of getting things back on track for numerous individuals who have had sewage and / or water back up into their basements. I met a number of interesting people of all ages. Enjoyed more than my share of drink at a nice little place called "Whitey's booze and burgers" in Richfield, Ohio and contracted and subsequently survived a fight with pneumonia. approximately 4 weeks ago i was instructed to report to Frederick, Maryland where i would receive additional deployment instructions to assist with hurricane Irene damage. I was informed that my deployment could be anywhere from New York City, New Jersey, Maryland, North Carolina and numerous points between. I prayed constantly that i would not end up in Jersey, i even went straight to my manager and asked if he had any work that was available in Iraq, Afghanistan, Nigeria or perhaps even Siberia and if so i would gladly volunteer in place of ANY assignment in New Jersey. My manager told me that there were unfortunately no such assignments and that i should report immediately to Newark. F...M...L The money is good, the days are long... and as such i have been given little time to visit subsim. I have routinely paid the site a visit for a few fleeting minutes here and there but not long enough to make a post... long enough only to check the forum for latest jokes to keep my work partner entertained and to notice that there was a fund raiser going on. I finally made the time for a donation (I have NO time for anything in this line of work). I hope to be home for my biggest camping trip of the year in late october, but i am not optimistic as i will likely be here in Jersey until the winter weather is in full swing. Thanks for reading the post... i will make an effort to visit more frequently, but life has been an unbelievable amount of insanity the past couple of months and i can only hope my absence went noticed. (wouldnt want to die in a house of ill repute and nobody know about it) more posts when the time exists to do so. have a great time on the site everyone. ~GR |
Whatever you do, I hope that goes well for you, and to get more time later, take care of you

@GoldenRivet
I noticed your absence. Looking forward for your more "posty" presence. :D |
Let's see...........
:hmmm: By Garbage State I assume you mean New Jersey? :haha: And I'd have visited you in Cleveland if I knew you were there!! That's only a few hours away from me. :nope: Ah well. Best wishes Mate!! :salute: |
Good to hear all is well GR. You should ahve gotten in touch with Jeff in Ohio. I'm sure he would have helped you find some more watering holes, though it sounds like you did OK without his help.:DL
|
Glad to know you're okay GoldenRivet. You're always the more magnanimous one around here. :DL
Keep on being great in your life. |
Welcome back!
And well damn.. Quote:

Welcome back, GR! I was wondering where you'd got to. :DL
|
Frederick...if spit hard enough I could hit Frederick. Might consider heading to Bmore to see the Torsk. :)

A banner day for Subsim. First 1480 shows up again and now GR.
Welcome back and yes you were missed, hope you find time to keep up with all the "stuff" that goes on around here. Good to hear that you are doing good in the new job but take some time for yourself. Magic |
Welcome back GR!
if you're stuck in Jersey you could always pay Sledge a visit up here in Connecticut. :D |
A house of ill repute?
Well your here, aint ya? Stay safe and take care. I spent 3 months in Jersey - its the armpit of the world. Women all dress like peg bundy and I had to fight a million and a half people going to work and back home every day. |
Good to see ya!:salute: If you ever wind up on the West Coat, give me a ring and I'l buy you a beer. (Portland or Seattle)
|
Hey ho! :salute:
I know you wrote that you changed careers, but I always wonder why frequent posters suddenly stop showing up. Hope your vacation plan will work out, I also didn't have one this year, so I understand the urge. And clean up the damned garden! |
Glad to hear from you, John!
