I hate those multiple choice questions!

Is there any way to get rid of those ridiculous merchant/warship/aircraft spotted popups that have the 3 choices with them? One reason I dislike them is they seem to only popup when they are enemy units, giving away the uncertainty of whether the ship sighted is either friendly, neutral, or enemy.

Just select one as a default action and then it'll stop asking every time. If you ever want to reset or change the default at a later date, press esc and then access the options menu. :sunny:

Sometimes the simplest solution is the last one you think about. Here I was trying to rip apart files to find where they are at to delete them. Thanks for an easy answer Fish.

I selected "Take No Action". The choice is still mine every time. :sunny:

I go straight for "Abandon ship!" :O:

In the days of SH2, I lived on a boat. Icould leave the game at X1 and go about my business. If I was sleeping the game would wake me up like in a real sub.

My saloon table was almost the same as that in a U boat. The immersion was fantastic.

That what to do next screen is the stupidest "improvement" in SH3.

The crew interface in SH2 was great.

Mine too...

There's a good motto in there somewhere. Something like - when the going gets tough, just ignore it! :O:

:rotfl2: :yep:

At one point I wished there was a choice for 'Crash Dive', at least for aircraft sightings, but then I remembered that I might be in shallow water when that happened. I leave it at 'Do Nothing' just because it might be a merchant I want to stalk on the surface.

Isn't crashed dive set to 50-70m?
I don't know where your hunting but that's really shallow waters :o

IIRC the GWX default was 70m, but it's easily changed via the NSS_UboatXX.cfg files.

I'm hunting in the deepest water I can find, but it seems I have to cross the North Sea or the Bay of Biscay to get there, and that's where the evil flying thingies like to throw things at me. :dead:

The real-life default was 70m, and anything else is cheating in my book.

But isn't it possible to select crash dive and after ''lets say'' 20m select the depth manually?

Yes, being a 'game' you can always override the command. But the consideration here is that there's a certain amount of time required to 'pull out' of the maneuver. If for example, you're in fairly shallow water (say around 50m) it's entirely possible you would strike bottom before the depth override would actually pull you out.

Also, while I can't speak for Steve, I seem to recall him posting recently that in reality it would be unlikely that a real life boat would be able to pull out prior to a depth of 70m (due to the ballast physics involved). :sunny:
