Photo's From Airventure 2011 [PICTURE HEAVY]

Well I just got back from EAA Airventure 2011 - other than the extremely hot and humid weather, it may have been the best year yet. I also met up with the IL-2 1946 squadron I fly with, so, there will be pictures of me with them. To be honest, most of them are cars. I didn't take many pictures of things I have seen before.

Well... It was fun, that's for sure. I met Chuck Yeager and his wife. To be quite honest, his wife isn't friendly at all. She acts very controlling of everything he does. She even made the callous remark, "Keep an eye on your watch..." under her breath when I shook his hand.

But, that's about all I can say for now.

Nice pics, though some of them are sideways. :O: I've been around 'Fifi' many times, never been inside. Lucky you.

Interesting car shots. I like the Blue Angels one, and the GT-40 is always delicious.

And you got to meet the master himself. I saw him perform at an air show back in '62, and heard him speak once. Didn't get to shake his hand, though I have met Scott Crossfield and Bob White.

The Blue Angels Mustang auctioned for 400 grand

You went eh? My father went and I almost went myself but seeing as I break down pretty easily in hot weather and since the high 80s was predicted I decided not to, besides I've already been to few of them and each time there hasn't been much different, except for that one where I witnessed two planes try and land together and crash.

ahhh that GT40 is gorgeous!!!! Great pics mate

The blue on the mustang is beautiful.

I can only imagine the kind of woman who could catch, marry, and live with an alpha like Chuck Yeager all these years. We should all be so lucky to have a woman like that.

HE is one of the nicest, cockiest, self-assured, arrogant... (there aren't enough adjectives in the english langauge) ... people I've ever had the honor of talking to.

Bob Hoover is the one I'd like to have a cup of coffee with.

Sadly Ford no longer own the rights to GT40 so their new GT40's are just called Ford GT :nope:

But, in either guise they are delicious indeed.

They just designated it as the Ford GT because it is the modern, street legal variant. According to the guys from corporate I've talked to, they never even wanted to call it the GT40

Never heard that...least not on the forum that reported and photographed the incident I read.

I was simply pleased the pilot got out safely.

Yeah - same.

But apparently all they need is the name & serial plate, and the funds to do it. The group that had it had only had it for about a month.

Another Mustang had a near miss while I was at the show. I have a clip that I took somewhere... It was to the point that I was standing up saying "Oh **** oh **** oh ****" tho the mic didn't pick that part up. I estimate there to have been about 10ft clearance between him and a Beech D18.

The Mustang came in high hot and off center.
