games with similar campiain system to Silent hunter?
 

one of the things i love about the silient hunter seris of games is how the campain is set up, it is more or less a sandbox but with a few missions. anyone know of any other games that are at least remotly similar to this? they dont need to be sub sims, any genre will do. i did some poking around my self, and found a few flight sims that fit the bill, but they need a joystic and i am to poor to buy one. so, any ideas?

You might want to try the close combat series, you get given a campaign and depending on how you do mission to mission it will effect what you get later on. For example, if you decide to chuck a few 88's or Panzer iv's at the enemy and they get destroyed. Unless you resupply you won't have those units available to you again. Really makes you think before committing certain units to certain battles :)

Just search for "open world games" or "sandbox games". Should turn up plenty of candidates.

Falcon 4.0 is an F16 sim that has sandbox campaigns. Your mission performance has a direct affect on other units in the game and how they perform, which in turn directs the outcome of the war. The game has a huge modding community keeping it alive.

yea, i herd of that game, but i dont have a joystik and normaly play on a laptop so i cant do flight sims.

Not much out there with a dynamic campaign.
I was gonna suggest BOB II Wings of Victory, but like Falcon 4 - its another fight sim.

it's a post WWII tactical, turn-based, complex game...there is even a free version available + a version for WWII

It can generate campaigns, scenarios and the map generator is really awesome.
