Humans become 'pets' in Rise of the Machines

Machines have won the war and the human race is destined to become little more than house pets.
That's the future according to one of the smartest geeks on the planet, Steve Wozniak, who co-founded Apple Computers and is convinced that in his lifetime he will see computer intelligence equal that of humans.
The Woz is to the technological world what The Fonz was to leather jackets and denim, and when he talks, the global industry listens.
As technology explodes, humans are not going to be needed so much in the future and will settle back into a life of ease, Mr Wozniak told a business congress on the Gold Coast on Friday.
"We're already creating the superior beings, I think we lost the battle to the machines long ago," he said.
"We're going to become the pets, the dogs of the house."
He said all of a sudden, true artificial intelligence will creep up on mankind like an accident.
"Every time we create new technology we're creating stuff to do the work we used to do and we're making ourselves less meaningful, less relevant.
"Why are we going to need ourselves so much in the future? We're just going to have the easy life," he said.

I have never provided them for me to be Newsman, it is a title that Neal has knighted me, and is a perfect cover for what I do, IRL, so you can safely crank out your news ... but do not forget to update your links and news, since you have posted ...it is important, :DL

The previous quote was tongue-in-cheek my friend.
A worthy tip from a true professional.
It's not about cranking them out, as you put it, it's all about choosing quality material, with the reader's tastes in mind.
Sometimes we get it wrong, as you are well aware. :salute:

Well the Human race has enslaved themselves to the machines so that's the next agenda.

We bought this on ourself's.

Look on the bright side.
Maybe humans will be able to direct efforts for exploration and colonization of space, understanding of universe.
not necessarily just getting fat and play VR.

Getting off planet to work in terraforming mars or play VR and getting Fat.
Maybe it could be matter of choice how you want to live.

(end of tripping mode )

I think redundancy will take on a new meaning...

I'm trying to figure out what a computer would even want a pet for? If you think about it, computers only know what we teach them, their entire logic is made up of 1's and 0's, no emotion, no want, no care. While it is possible to simulate emotion in certain robots it is not possible to actually give them emotions.

We as human beings keep pets to entertain us, as friends and loyal creatures. But if the above is true then computers can not be entertained so they'd have no desire for pets, nor would they desire to take over the world unless we specifically told them to. (Which considering some humans in the world I guess that could be a possibility.)

Ahh oh well, if it happens I just hope I'm lucky enough to be one of the dogs they use to breed with.

See that? Optimism! :O:

Sorry for that.
what about billions people nowadays.
Most of world population live to eat and and realise same small personal dreams. Small part is really doing really something meaningful.
Great number of people struggle to feed themselves while the other want to have more stuff to play with. (I'm not communist lol)
So maybe in the future most of the population will be happy to live in their new word doing whatever meaningless things they will do and see current generation as miserable.
At the end our future is shaped by our nature fantasy and ambitions.:timeout:
