Operation Flashpoint to be re-released

I can't recommend this game highly enough to anyone that's never played it.
Made by the same people that have brought you the ARMA series, OFP stood out as a true war simulator - "As close to war as you would ever want to get" I believe one of the reviews read.

If you play ARMA II you'll find the gameplay familiar, but the storyline of the original and also the expansions (assuming they are included in the release) is well worth a play-through.

Don't confuse this with Codemaster's recent efforts. They aren't in the same league!

This can be no bad thing - since the original OFP was great, but I smell a rat here, in the sense that it would be too easy for them to coble together an OFP remake under the same engine as ArmaII and then use 90% of the same assets, its a bit of a cheap shot tbh.
Aside from the story and Locations, Arma II and OFP are near enough the same darn game.

I still dream that BIS will one day give us WW2 era OFP/ARMA type game, now that would really be something!

Sure about that? Since OFP, the franchise has gone downhill SP-wise. :hmmm:

You mean a bit like Iron Front?

:hmmm:

It was already re-released a few weeks back, with all the expansions except for Red Hammer. Patch 1.99 for OFP == Cold War Assault, the full game, for anyone with an OFP cd-key.

Well bar Dragon rising, Its still better than half the other dumbed down linier crap out there..
Arma II SP campaing was great until after Manhatten - then it nose dived in to a half arsed unfinished buggy RTS pile of steaming poo... but before that I'd say it was better (more immersive) than the orginal OFP SP campaign.
Anyway I reserve judgment on these things until they are on the shelf.

Ok, I know some of you know my beef with ArmA already, but just to recap: OFP was awesome singleplay-wise, it was VERY good. So was the Red hammer and resistance expansions.

ArmA 1 and ArmA 2, should be seld at 25€, for they lie about the SP, MP is great, I like it, but they sell the game as a great SP experience too, which it is not.

Fair enough mate, but as i said Arma IIs SP started out well, then it went down the toilet, so half of it was good at least.

I do agree with you, I enjoyed the first bit. Then it turned to SP warfare mode.
