Can anyone help me please

Hi all

Im having a major problem with the game, sound is stuttering and cutting as well as looping in the sound and music in the game, also the gfx are stuttering as well and temorarily freezing

I have tried alot of things to remedy the problem, then following advice from the tech/FAq at the sonalysts user forums I followed steps to try there , and completely disabling the sound fixed the issue of the gfx stuttering though obviously the other problem isn't there now

So I wanted to know what could be the problem when [disabling the sound in the .ini file rectifies the problem?

Also tried to sign up to there forums which are here:

http://www.sonalystscombatsims.com/p...f2cf5c0a786728

Every time though I was getting this error

"Sp@mbot Registration Attempt"

So I cant regisster :damn:

what can I do?

thx everyone

what OS do you use? have you updated the driver(s) for your sound card? have you tried to run DW in compatibility mode if you've a Windows OS higher than Windows XP?

I do not know if Sonalysts still provides technical support...

Thx for the reply hawk :)

OS is windows xp professional 64 bit edition

Yes at first it was running really badly so i updated my sound drivers and its better but still not right

soundcard is creative audigy 2 zs

PC specs go like this

Asus M2N4-sli board
5gb 667 ddr2 OZ premium memory
BFG Geforce 8800 gtx 768mb ddr3 video card
dirx 9c dirx
AMD Athlon 5200+ x2 x64 Processor

Recently had 2 re-install os some its not fully updated and im running sp1 not yet sp2

YEs I tried running in compatability mode it didnt do anything really im also running just 1 core, have also installed the AMD athlon optimizer for 64bit

I also tried running in windows mode this was actually even worse!!

finally i disabled sound my editing the .ini file and it deffintate feels better now (no gfx freezing up for a second and icons moving eraically around and no sound problem but of course there is no sound )

What could be the problem when disabling the sound appears to fix it??

IF ANYBODY help please im really get annoyed with this

thankyou

Turning off, or just collapsing, the 3d window seemed to sort most of my sound stuttering problems. To bad it kills the allready limited awe-factor in DW. But stuttering is too annoying to deal with.

The 3d window is off little use anyway in subs, or being inside the command stations. Learn to opperate the sonar stations and learn how to identify your contacts. Do NOT trust what you see in that windows. It is as correct as what the autocrew or sonar profile filter comes up with first. Unless Show Truth is on ofcourse.

Thx 4 the info...Pisces.....but

ur joking? The game doesnt have any bling bling and ur telling me I have to get rid of the 3d screen? Isn't there another way some might not mind but I like to see the actual objects, even RSR had gfx and thats so old now!!

I managed to register at sonalysts site this time, but I didn't get any confirmation email so I still can,t post there, but u might be right other than some stupid spammer the lasts posts there seem to be some time ago :-(

Could reverting to a earlier dirx fix this? It does seem to be totally sound related , but ill try disabling the 3d screen though even if that stops the stuttering surely there has to be another solution?:hmmm:

Dangerous Waters isn't designed for the bling. It's designed as a hardcore submarine simulation. In real life, the crew of a sub's only contact with anything outside the sub is with the sensors at their disposal. The beauty of Dangerous Waters is learning how these things are really done, and the challenge of using what these platforms really use to track and kill their prey. It's not an action arcade game where you drive around shooting everything. In a modern battle, even, usually the attacker doesn't even see the target when he fires and the damage is confirmed by either other units or new data streamed into the platform's sensors. This is especially true for a submarine.

The closest thing you'll get to a 3D attacker's point of view is driving the FFG or the aircraft, and even then, most of the time, the targets won't be visible.

Well you have over 2000 posts and pisces has alot as well so I guess I you must know, i cant have the 3D view on. :damn:

Ill put this to you though if your so right why did sonalysts include a 3d screen?

Because its more enjoyable entertaining and exciting, not to mention it helps sell the product P :smug:

Im not an arcade player truth is I havent just bought this game , just never played it much when I bought it, when incidentally I had a much less powerfull machine and it ran with no problems 3d screen and all. The pc I have now should be able to run this game on standby! and im sure if I knew how to sort this out it would without any problems. I was just wanting some help to see if it could be fixed; didn't count on a lecture about how I should play the game....

Anyways fyi the other games I play are silent hunter and arma 2 both i think youll find try to recreate reality they are Simulations... I actually hate arcade games...

but thx for replying if you have any other usefull information plz let me know

cheers

I just tried playing the game with 3d disabled... and its still stuttering both sound and Gfx it hasnt done anything to solve it

Is there anything else I can do or just give up trying to play this?:wah:

I know theres something to resolve it but I just dont know what it is :-?

Well, you can always turn "Show Truth" on to see the real eye candy, but the game considers it a cheat so it won't let you successfully complete a scenario with it turned on.

As for your other issue, I had the same problem on my old computer. Turning off 3D Sound in the sound options menu solved it for me. I don't know why it works or what's going on, but I suspect that there is some issue with DW's 3D sound and certain audio cards, either that or there are cards that just don't have their architecture set up to work with it. Getting rid of the 3D sound did a LOT to lessen the choppiness.
