Home Defense UK Style

Well, this guy is incredibly lucky. And pretty stupid.
Spotlighting these sorts of stories may give other people, IQ-challenged, the notion that there is a possibility that you can take on armed Hooligans, and win.

This is the dramatic moment a father-of-two wrestled a gun from a pair of hooded men who burst into his home and were caught on camera.
Adrian Draper, 43, grappled with two gunmen after they forced their way into his home on Saturday morning.
But the hooded men didn't realise the dramatic incident was caught on CCTV - which Adrian had set up in case he was burgled.

Moment of truth: Adrian Draper wrestles the gun (circled) off one of the intruders who broke into his Ilkeston home.

The shocking footage shows Adrian - in the blue shirt - being beaten by the two men, while they hold a gun to his head - before he dramatically wrestles the weapon from them.
Adrian said: 'I'm really angry that this has happened in my own home. My teenage daughter was upstairs at the time, and she was frozen with fear.
'I was so lucky to have had the cameras running - I bought them because I was worried about being burgled, and I'd been setting them up and testing them out on Saturday.'

He added: 'I answered a knock at my front door and there were two hooded men there. They pushed a gun into my stomach. At first, I thought it was fake, but the expressions on their faces made me realise it was real.'
Adrian claims he grabbed hold of the weapon and twisted it out of the man's hand - but moments later the two men had grabbed the weapon back and pushed him into his front room - right in the line of the camera.

The camera recorded about 20 seconds of footage of the trio wrestling with the weapon - before Adrian managed to grab the gun and chase the two men into the kitchen.
He said: 'I saw that the safety catch was on the gun, so I started hitting them with it until the gun fell out of my hands.
'They grabbed the gun and ran out of the front door.

Caught on camera: Adrian Draper captured the footage because he had set up a webcam in case he was burgled.

fear of breaking into anothers mans home should exceed the fear of death.

Jimbuna 07-05-11 07:43 AM

One very stupid yet lucky man :nope:

Just an average day for Ilkeston really.

If he'd just meekly complied with what the robbers wanted he might have got a bullet in the head for both him and his daughter for his troubles.

Dead people can't testify.

Actually....and with absolutely no evidence to support it, I'm wondering if the whole thing was stage managed :hmmm:

My first thought was who has he been doing dealings with, pretty much the same thoughts as with that "burglar" stabbed dead the other week over there.

Dead people can't testify.

And dead people can't be fathers to their daughters.

+1.

Looks well-framed, if you ask me. And I'm not necessarily speaking of the shot composition.

Answer: Buy a Rotweiller or a short barrel shotgun.

If a man isn't willing to put his life on the line in defense of his daughter,
He's not a man.

What! How can it be! A gun crime in the UK? with a handgun! Don't they realize that handguns are illegal!

according to the article one of the guns was fake, the other one appears to be real.
