Sh5 with kubuntu and wine
 

Ahoi,

to avoid the bothersome reboot from Linux to Windows for playing SH5 I decided to test the game with wine.

As described at WineHQ-AppDB I installed the game. The online-update to Version 1.2 works fine, but I cant start the game :down: The Ubisoft Gamelauncher cant connect to the Masterserver :damn:

Perhaps, somebody has a resolution for this dumb error? :yeah:

i tried posting here but got move to general /pc hardware ,i got no replys , my old post is still there.
i did get the game to launch but got block by security codes i tried 32 bit and 64bit but as wine only ran in 32 bit and i was hoping run 64 bit stop trying i had no luck with fsx also.
on the wine site some say they had it working and i tried to follow the hints but got nowhere.
sorry this is no help i was using maverick meekat .
so i gave in and went to windows 7 as i mainly use the computer for games sh/3/4/5 fsx .

You could try PM the_tyrant here on subsim he is a member of the dev team for kubuntu, he might be able to offer some solutions.

So, I know this is quite awesome necroposting, but, have you been able to run SH5 1.2 under wine?

I am now at the same spot you were when you posted this, game installed, but does not run, and i don't get any error messages. Am trying to debug it but wine debugging is a world within itself, and much reading is required!

Ok so I auto-reply, I haven't been able to run SH5 under linux/wine, but SH4 works like a charm with OM, OMEGU and all the jazz, so I'm a happy panda now. :up:
