Can anyone offer any reviews on this one? I am looking for a good carrier game for the the computer and want to avoid CAW Like the Uncommon Value model of battle repair and continued campaign can anyone suggest. Also looking for Nappy wars game of similair scope thanks

Ah, how did I miss this thread?

Anyway, I can't personally review Midway, since I don't have that one. Of the Naval Campaigns series, I only have the Guadalcanal game and it's not bad (But definitely not my favourite), though I think with the focus on air operations in Midway the game would be much more interesting. You might want to take a look at the ACG review.

I'm not sure what you mean by the second part of your post, but HPS' Naval Campaigns games have no large campaigns, they focus only on tactical battles.

As for Napoleonic games, HPS' Napoleonic series is excellent, IMO their best series. You just have to be careful of the horrendous interface and graphics their games have.

Forgive me for being dumb, but what does 'CAW' mean?

I was wondering myself. Possibly Matrix's Carriers at War game?

EDIT: Or the really old SSG game of the same name...

Carriers at War? don't remember that one ever being released. Didn't they scrub that in favour of enhancing the same engine for WITP, or am I thinking of something else? :hmmm:

I'd really like a proper carrier sim, come to think of it, or at least a proper sim based on carrier ops. Here's hoping the rumours that DCS are planning to do a Super-hornet sim are on the money.

No, Carriers at War was unrelated to that and was released several years ago. The game you are referring to was called Carrier Force, I believe.
