decks awash button possible?

TDW or other modders,

I would like a button like the "dive" button to take the sub to "decks awash" depth.

Is this possible?

Currently almost impossible to do because you either have to adjust the .cfg file to make it work or can't be done (and messing with config file causes problems in other areas). The reason it's so difficult is that you cannot submerge (decks awash) with crew on deck. If you place crew (and yourself) below decks then yes, a decks awash button can be added.

Thanks TDW,

Just thought I'd ask.

What would be the correct decks awash depth. Is it 6.5 meters?

6.5-7.5m

Beeing a noob to this game I don't know if this is a well known action or not, but I simply set depth manually to around 7 meters and that works fine both on bridge and below. My sub then says Decks Awash in the navmap.

Correct, that works as long as you and crew are below decks first before selecting 7m depth

What the OP is wanting is to be able to go decks awash with you and crew above decks.

No, I don't mind getting the crew below decks to do the "deck awash",
just the way I have to do it for "crash dive" or "periscope depth".

That's the whole point is that in this mode, people need to stay on the bridge. Otherwise, the meaning of this situation is lost. I am sure that everyone knows why. Silhouette of boats decreased, diesel engines are working, people on the bridge of the situation under control, combat calculation is performed aiming for above-water shooting.
In our this is called "Positional position"
It would be nice to have such a mode.

I just tested the voice recognition mod and there was a 'decks awash' voice command that worked...took the sub to about 7m depth and crew was still in the conning tower.

Surely if there's a voice command, there must be a command in-game?

Ive found if you manually set depth to 7m you can get decks awash
but there are some problems.
You loose the Binoculars but can still access uzo
The crew stays but the hatch is locked - telleport works

In a recent patroll I did have decks awash working with
all functions operating correctly but it was verry calm water
I was travelling at minimun speed ahead
and the deck was only just submerged. It was verry tricky to
get just the right depth selected on the depth bar.
But the main thing was that the grey circle denoting visual
detection on nearby ships did reduce.

It would be really great to have it working properly.

Walking at a speed of "standard ahead" I instal a depth of 8 m and all runnable - the hatch is opened, the crew on deck, binoculars available. At this time I made this screen. And continued to working diesel engines.

I dont have use of binoculars when i go to this depth .

Obelix 07-06-11 06:14 AM

But even if the only available UZO this is sufficient. The button "decks awash" will not be superfluous.

I like a button too.
