SH3 Patch "starforce-free" DVD
I wish to patch my game of Silent Hunter 3 to the recent patches, for mods to work and to mainly fix an annoying crash bug. Unfortunately neither the US or UK patches will work, whether they're for the DVD or Downloaded version. All say a certain file isn't the required version. for UK patches it's anim.act, for usa de_menu.txt I've tried all the patches availiable.
I also tried the starforce update tool, though it just tells me there is no copy-protection installed on my pc to update. Yes I am playing on Vista x64 but the game already works. I am playing a version which has been re-released through a company called Focus http://www.focusmm.co.uk/shop/Silent...I-pr-1622.html (my case has an older packaging on it) They do not have a patch for the game on their site. Any suggestions to help me patch up to the current version would be greatly appreciated! |
If it's a recent release (or re-release) of the game, it's probably already patched to the most recent version (v1.4).
You can tell by loading up the game, I think the version # will appear somewhere during loading or in the main menu screens. You can also try right-clicking on the SH3.exe file and clicking Properties, somewhere in the info box that pops up should be info on the file version. If you have v1.4 you won't need to apply any patches. I downloaded the game from the Ubi store in 2009 and bought a disc version currently for sale at Amazon, both came already patched to v1.4. |
Ah yes it reads v1.4 in the bottom right on the main menu, not very obvious though.
I've seen that there's a 1.4b patch though, was the 1.4a patch never released, or do i need to patch further? |

Thankyou for the replies, I'm still getting to grips with manual targetting, playing at 97% realism (Using the stealth meter because I have no idea what range I need to stay at).
Using a couple of mods, map tools and sh3 commander, both of which make the game much more "complete". |
The Stealth Meter won't tell you whether you've been detected. It only tells you how quiet you are at the moment.

Yep. Think of it as an indication of how detectable you are, not how good a job the enemy is doing of detecting you. If they do detect you, you'll know soon enough. :O: |
At first I was like :D  :O:
Then I was like :o :damn:  Now I'm just :dead: |
