new installed DW

Hi,

i bought a fresh copy from Gamersgate and installed it. Now i wonder which Version i have installed, or in other words: do i have to install the 1.04 Patch or not. Where can i check which version the Game has?
Found nothing ingame where a version number would be displayed.

Usually you can find the file version in the Details tab of the File properties of the DangerousWaters.exe file (right click on it, lowest option in the list)

It should also be shown in the game but I forgot where.

Ah thanks, i found the place where the Version is, the Splash Screen ;)

Another problem: Voice recognition. Seems like no command works on windows 7, does anybody experience similar problems with voice commands on windows 7 64 bit?

Do you by any chance have non-English language version of Windows 7? Then that's probably why. There are only a limited set of speech recognition languages and M$ decided to force them to be the same as the Windows UI language.

Yes thats the case, im German and so is my Windows.
Do i have any chance to get rid of that?

I think that your German Windows uses a German Speech engine and so expects a German voice. But the Game commands are in English. So it naturally fails to understand what is said. The legal way is to upgrade to Windows (7) Ultimate. Which has the ability to choose different language packs. And once you have the English language pack for Windows installed (not sure if the UK or US pack makes a difference), you can also choose the English speech engine in the advanced options of Speech Recognition. But you can't have both the German and English language pack working together at the same time. Iirc you have to reboot to switch, so this may be more cumbersome than you want.

I don't know if there is a less legal way to install the language packs. And if there is, I doubt I am allowed to mention it here. But I don't know a current one anyway. (2 years ago I tried something for Vista) You'll have to resort to Google for it.
