BUZZKILL!!! Just for a minute there I got all excited thinking maybe the crew were all wearing gold lamé thongs under their uniforms or something.

What? A girl can dream. :shifty:

:haha:

Great! I cannot wait for my upcoming IXc patrols. Btw. what is the crew uniform mod on your screnshots, Aces?

Bakkels 05-09-11 03:37 PM

Just today I was browsing through the thread with all the old photo's from the U-boats, and I was thinking about a way to make those air-intake thingies myself. I guess I don't have to worry about that anymore.
btw, how did you make this? Did you somehow add them with s3ditor?
I thought about adding those things to the conningtower .tga file, but that would require a different way of unwrapping the model I think; something I'm not really good at.

Aces 05-09-11 03:44 PM

Yes air intakes for the engines, works with all skins. Lol Frau kaluen sorry to disapoint :) the crew uniforms are rapt0rs will post link tomorrow if requested

Aces

edit I split off the back of the exterior turn model mapped a new texture with alpha channel then very very slightly upscaled by one one thousanths in scale and added this group back to the model and then imported back into s3ditor and added the texture file. This way it will work with any skin.

No problem, I'm already using one of his uniform mods, I think the grey leather is awesome altho' I couldn't talk him into adding the thongs either. :wah: :O:

Nice one with the air intakes. :yeah:

I'm hope, texture of reflect model of this turm without alpha channel...
... otherwise, you will get artifact...

Aces 05-10-11 02:16 AM

Hi Anvart,

Thanks for the tip, there's no alpha channel in the reflection model as I remembered that you had this issue with your pennants mod IIRC.

Congratulations on your most excellent skins Bakkels, I'm really enjoying your work mate.

Best Regards

Aces

:D
Are wrong here, my friend, the problem is known, IIRC, since 2005 ... 2006.
... and you can see it on some ships, in models of damaging (holes in hull) and so on ...
:salute:

P.S.
About pennants... i wrote in order to no one no asked me: why no pens-reflection in the water ...

Aces 05-10-11 03:50 AM

:salute: I remembered it from somewhere though :D.

Kind regards my friend

Thanks Aces. I'm honored to see my skin pop up in the screenshots with your excellent mods! :salute:

Ahh, my dear Aces...seems like the old and ancient batteries you run off are still charged! :03:

Kudos for yet another game-changer in SH3 experience.
You still keep surprising. Any future plans concerning details like those Air-Slits for the niners?

:arrgh!:

Aces 05-10-11 09:56 AM

Hi chaps,

:salute: my dear Myxale, it's funny you should say that. :D I was wondering why there wasn't a compass on the turm of my 9c?, I never used the type 9 so never noticed before. I found a few references to one fitted as shown here so I decided to add one:

I'm not sure if this is historically accurate or not, I'll leave folks to comment on that. Still it was a fun exercise adding it.

Cheers

Aces
