Radio Interaction
I was wondering if there's a way to make a Mod so we can send our own radio messages (edit) and get a random number of responces from Bdu.
Or is this another of the many "can't do because it's Hard Coded" issues ? edit: Something simular was in SHII iirc |
No, no Mod, and no not possible...:wah:
You have only the generic response of sunk-tonnage xxxxx. |
Why ?

Yes it's possible, but only by changing the stock message before loading the game. You therefore send the usual message and get a 'randomly generated' message back, but I don't know how to change it during a patrol (i.e. receive multiple messages as you asked).
I used SH3 Commander to enable this little mod that proves the concept and gives you a random second patrol grid: http://www.mediafire.com/?gdym4o3gjky. I also randomised the usual response so it is less repetitive. |

And an excellent mod it is W-B :yep: I have it installed and a world of difference it makes. :salute: I guess I want more than the game engine can supply. It would have to for example... If I could send " I'm damaged" It would undestand and respond... "Return to Base" for example. |

h.sie's V15E patch or whatever it's called does something like this, or Stiebler's fix with extra stuff for it does, anyway... it supplies a few alternate congratulations messages from BdU based on definable (to the game) parameters. You have to install the patch and then put an * in front of one of the message lines in en_menu.txt, then that line (the standard patrol report response) gets replaced by some variation from the patch.
There are only 6 or so alternate messages, but they're based on tonnage reported or there's one message that you get if your hull integrity is below a certain point telling you to RTB immediately. You can edit the text a bit but there's a limit on # of characters you can use. Anyway, it's a little something to vary things up. |
Didn't really think it was possible!
Maybe a combination of hsie patches + sh3 commander and the mod above...and it'll be as close as things get! |
How about...
