Subsim Eurovision Thread
This was originally a thread about Osama, but it seems like I'm late
so I changed it to eurovision so, my European friends, what do you think of this year's contestants? I think the contestants were stronger last year, this years contestants seem weak overall after all, I only started watching after the awesome sax guy from last year went viral well the contestants:http://www.youtube.com/user/eurovisi.../0/vkm6hCiuyXw |
Is it that time of the year again?
Never cared for it, will never care for it. Never really watched, will never watch. I do have to give them some credit though. Some 5 years back my mom was watching Eurovision, and I was sitting in the room, when Lordi started. That got me into metal, and in no time I was addicted to it (don't really listen to Lordi anymore though) |
Eurovision eh? More like "lets vote for our closest neighbours, and they will vote for us the following year" :nope:

Seems to be especially true for Eastern European countries:down: |
Great!
A early night. |
Our entry for the UK should be Cradle of Filth:D

Though, seeing as how Lordi got successful with their creepy masks, Dani should do fine:D http://www.biographyworld.net/Dani-F...iography-2.jpg |
Slovenia wont get far, like every year. Maja has a great voice and looks good, but the song itself is a piece of garbage. Written by the same people that wrote every previous (very un-succesfull) entries.
The selection (caled EMA here) has become a total farse, where you win depending on who was the author. But Maja did win the ''most beautiful of the contestants'' award |
Just want to know how votes will the portuguese song get!:haha:

Lena again or not Lena again, that is the only question. :) Can't sing for sure, but her looks are awfully cute and her moves are irresistably queer. The beauty contest she already has won in advance, no doubt.
Funny, Google search engine predicted (by search request-patterns and -numbers) last two years' winners correctly. And this year it predicts a Lena win again. |
The german decision to let Lena run again and let the people choose between 4872 songs which she should sing, is so terribly unoriginal and dull...
At least Israel waited 13 years to have Dana sing again... The most fun to watch will probably be the semi-finales - there you have all the europop-trash-stars with amazingly bad songs :D - in the finale the majority are sadly already wiped out - but still enough mocking potential :DL. Too bad that I won't have the time to watch the finale the proper way: with friends and beer. Also I am not terribly happy about Düsseldorf's decision to get the conmtest at all costs. For example: They build a mobile stadium, so that our local football club can play its last 3 games at home, as the Arena is occupied by the ecs. The official costs for this stadium alone are 2.8million €, estimates go up to 8. After the contest it gets knocked down again... And this in a city which has among the hightest crime rate in the state, in combination with the lowest clearance rate, where the roads look like ****e, other cultural and social programs get underfunded and its own city workers have to work under semi-legal conditions with a laughable pay.... But hey: that's Düsseldorf: they always want to look good on the outside, as we say in German: "Mehr Schein als Sein" |
I am outing myself: My name is Penguin and I will watch the contest tonight! :88)
Luckily I am able to do it like I wanted, beer's in the fridge, friends not yet. Anybody else watching the show? |
Dear Europe,
Sorry. -Ireland |
I never understood why from a country which made such great music, they always send those which would never even get a gig on a sheep pasture at home.
