A mod for Length in Rec Manual?
Hello, it's me bothering again :O:
I noticed that Recognition Manual in SH4 doesn't have the length of the ships, and I miss it a lot because in SH3 I loved to calculate ship speed using the length and the chronometer. I was wondering why? I mean, the lack of the length is a realism feature? true manuals didn't have the ship length neither? Also, I was wondering if there are mods that adds the length to the manual, I found this: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...ghlight=length http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...ghlight=length But both of them have broken links. I would appreciate it if someone can suggest me a length mod. Thank you in advance :salute: and sorry for my bad english  |
The lengths are added to the Recognition Manual in Optical Targeting Correction. The OTC thread can be found HERE.
As you read the thread, you will understand why the lengths are added to the optical mod fix. It should become clear; Why have correct lengths if the optics are out of proportion? Or better yet, why add the lengths at all? I should point out that an update to OTC is coming. A version for SH4 patched to only 1.4 is soon to be released. Also, I have run into a problem with a couple of the "optional" OTC mods that are in the present download. The addition of the "Realistic Scopes" mod will create a CTD when added to the main Optical Targeting Correction mod. I've been waiting to upload the corrected files until the month of May arrives. Just a couple more days. |
rockin robbins argues that ships' lengths were not know with precision by American sub commanders, and that enemy ships were also misidentified. I think that may be a reason they are not included in TMO, although I am not sure. However, I am with Capn Scurvy. His OTC mod is a piece of work, let me tell you. The omnimeter blows my mind, especially when I have Jimi Hendrix's spong Purple Haze playing during an attack run! (I haven't figured out how that song was played on Radio Hawaii, but what the heck.)
