how to find convoys and ships
If ,like me you are in the conning tower endlesssly looking for
arctic convoys and its bitterly cold with high seas, your morale plummets . I know mine has. This may help- 1. Take sub to area then save game 2. Go to radar man and activate hidden enemys. If he refuses then go to cook for special meal then talk to everyone until morale increases. 3. Go to map then wait until vessel appears using time compression. 4. When vessel appears note the longitude and latitude . 5. Load the save game then go at full speed to that position and the ship may appear there eventualy . I know its cheating a bit but remember the pride we felt on the deck of our uboat as we were awarded the Iron Cross and he said - "sie verdienen eine weitere medaille fur das esses kocht ihr lebensmittel" We all laughed. Then we came to attention and in a loud voice grossadmiral Donitz said- "Diese konvois muss gestoppt werden um jeden preis" We all cheered and knew we would follow those orders ruthlessly. . |
You can just plot an intercept course with the convoy, or slightly ahead of it, and use the reveal enemies ability when you get near the spot it should be. It's not foolproof but after practicing I almost never lose a convoy...plus I don't like the saving/loading thing, kinda feels like cheatin' :D

i personally wont get the reveal hidden enemys thing, think it takes away from the realizm of the game...

Nah... never made it past Oct 1939, due to restarting when I install new mods. And I've had this game since release. I like the challenge . So if I add a mod that increases the realism, I start again (but skip the annoying tutorial). As I feel that changing the realism with mods would void all previous patrols. (because I cheated by not playing on full realism). |
I am still in happy times :yep: bought the game the day it came out .

@ Lord Tony, I think you will enjoy if you try a more realistic way of searching targets. |

I decided to go on with campaigns and add mods as it goes, when finished (I hope before december 2012, one never knows...) IŽll start again with an "ideal" mod soup and something more realistic than my actual almost arcade mode. |
I think Sober playes with a max TC of 32 or something really low like that.

me personally,,i don,t like having the ships show up on the nav map so i know where they are..i like hunting them like in real life..Stoianm,s vids taught me a lot about using real navigation..
getting to actually find a ship without help is as fun as blasting them!(I,m not too good at hitting them with torps yet) |
I don't use the save game method too often
but finding these battleships + aircraft carriers can be frustrating. However i must have the sharpest crew as i was submerged 40 metres and the alarm went off " Aircraft spotted long range " As oberfahnrich zur see Dieter Epp says - "es muss die mohren der eat " I laughed untill the next depthcharge. . |

THANKS!!!
IM ADDICTED!! MY KID THINKS IM A SUB CAPTAIN! LOL
I just have one question: Is it normal to not find a freakin convoy all day long ( I mean real time not game time)??? Seems like Im lookin forever I am new to this expereience and I cant play it on anything but 96% realism. Pretty soon be able to play this wo the outside camera.:salute: But as a neewb I just have to say I think the best way to play this is without any sort of map contacts and 100% real nav (Thank you Stoianm for the lessons!!) Thats what made me want to get this game!:D |
