So my account is going to expire soon, and due to various reasons, money being one of them, and my cable comopany offering their own DVR's, I want to hack my tivo.

It's a series 2.

Has anybody done any hacking on these devices? I know theres some books out there, but has anybody have any experience in retrofitting these things?

By using the word "hack", I'm asuming it involves something illegal. If so, I'd remove that before a mod spots it. ;)

'Hack' is a common word for modding a electronic device that you own.

You should just Google it, there are bunches of info out there.

And wouldn't be illegal, since I own the machine. I Actually got it for free, amazon was having a 100% rebate offer... sweet.

Just wondering if it's possible to turn it into a HTPC, store everything on my 2 tb drive on my desktop, and use the wifi to stream. I'd love to get XP installed and running on it if thats at all possible.
