Restarting my 95% realism carreer in GWX SH3

I cant let go of my external camera (i love the screenshots).
U 53 (VIIB) . Lets see how this goes. The first one ended in 1940, minefield out of Hegoland returning from a mission of 50k tons... Sometimes i wish i teleported myself back home - a common practice amongst real Uboat commanders in the 1940's:shifty:

Good to hear they installed the new transporter beam technology on your boat... :03:

Best of luck and good hunting!

Good hunting! :yep:

And watch out for explosive floaty things.

You can tweak a CFG file and have up to 99% realism whilst having as much or little enabled as you want.

You can actually take it all the way to a hundred as the engine will accept nil values...

Yes but you lose the teleport function at 100%

Gargamel 04-11-11 04:33 PM

That's why I have it at 99%, and still not all the options checked. Play the game your way! wooo

Every time http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...ies/pirate.gif

Kapt Z 04-12-11 11:22 AM

What file in CFG and what values do you change to get 99% without having everything checked?

Gameplay settings??

Bakkels 04-12-11 11:33 AM

Yep. There you can change [realism percentage]. You've got to make sure though that the values still add up to a 100%.

This is how I set it:

[RealismPercentage]
LimitedBatteriesRealismPercentage=0
LimitedCompressedAirRealismPercentage=0
LimitedO2RealismPercentage=0
LimitedFuelRealismPercentage=0
RealisticVulnerabilityRealismPercentage=0
RealisticRepairTimeRealismPercentage=0
RealisticShipSinkingTimeRealismPercentage=0
ManualTargetingSystemRealismPercentage=99
NoMapUpdateRealismPercentage=0
RealisticSensorsRealismPercentage=0
DudTorpedoesRealismPercentage=0
RealisticReloadRealismPercentage=0
NoEventCameraRealismPercentage=0
NoExternalViewRealismPercentage=1
NoStabilizeViewRealismPercentage=0
NoNoiseMeterRealismPercentage=0
NoWeaponOfficerAssistRealismPercentage=0

I always leave the External Camera on (because I want to enjoy the graphics of the game too). This way my realism is 99% and I can still teleport back to base when I don't feel like making a long boring trip when I'm out of torpedoes.

Absolutely play it your way for maximum enjoyment, but I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around the whole realism versus teleportation issue...

Not that there's anything wrong with teleporting, but how is that some folks are willing to sacrifice realism here but then turn around and criticize those who choose to sacrifice it elsewhere?

I totally get the avoid boredom aspect, but what about avoiding the 'reality' of possibly getting strafed or running out of fuel on the way home?

As I said earlier, teleporting doesn't bother me provided people aren't preaching realism at the same time. And just so we're clear, I'm not accusing anyone here of doing that. Just wondering out loud in a general sense. :hmmm:

Bakkels 04-12-11 02:39 PM

I guess you answered it yourself Fish in the water; no one is preaching realism here to my knowledge. I think every single one here is in favor of the 'play the way you like it'.
For me personally, I do use the teleport function because I just don't always have the time to travel all the way back. Although I do make sure I have enough fuel left to make the hypothetical return trip. Otherwise it just doesn't really feel right to me.

Thought that might be it. Thanks for the help.:up:

Yah it wasn't here, it was comments made by some people in other threads... Just got me wondering...

Makes sense, I can see how playing time would be a huge factor...

Whatever floats your boat! :yep:

Just pay attention to flags... real U-53 destroyed twice as many neutral ships as enemy ones.
