Merchants shadowing me?
Hi guys,
New to SH5 and SUBSIM. I am playing through the campaign with TDW's mod, with about 83% (or something) realism.
I am currently looking for 5 AMCs along the Northern Patrol area, but have so far only located a few in port (at night, like little ducks in a row ;)), in which I dutifully opened holes.
After a refit I am headed back to my patrol area. I am being shadowed by two armed trawlers (blue on the map) regardless of depth, silent running, or direction. They hold, doing circles or slight zigzags, at 5+kms if I stop (surfaced or submerged) and wait. In the radio messages, in red, my position is being broadcast by the same two ships, again and again, no matter if I am above or below, moving or stopped.
Finally, after a while in real time (and limited to a small time compression due to ship proximity - grrr I just want to get back to my route with all my torps! :damn:), I opened all the doors, and started calculating a firing solution :stare:. They run when I turn, and stay at 5+kms, turning madly making a hit (for me) unlikely.
Is this normal? Are they friendly shadows that are just calling the play for the coach back home? Are there blue-marked ships that I should "accidentally" be sinking? How do they know where I am regardless of the (admittedly basic) tricks I employ?
*Still working my way through some excellent tutorials and videos (Stoianm, and some others ) so apologies if it's been explained in superior detail. Will facepalm as required*
