Mysterious Case of the Missing Manual

Hello all,

I'm new to the forum having just recently purchased the game. Absolutely loving it so far! However, I've encountered a strange problem which I can't seem to find any solution for and I was wondering if there might be Sherlock Holmes among you who could solve it...

What happened was, I made the mistake of dragging my Ship ID Manual too far to the right of my screen - and then I couldn't get it back again. The tab to drag the book was located just off the screen and I couldn't reach it with my mouse. So I tried closing the book and reopening it. No good. There seemed to be no way to retrieve it, so I decided to try changing my screen size to see if it would pop back out far enough for me to see the tab again. I usually play in 1920X1200 so I reloaded in 1200X900 and every other possible configuration. Not only did this not work, but now the book has disappeared completely! :stare:

I have tried everything that I can think of to get it back, including:

1) Starting a new campaign under a new name

2) installing the "Enhanced ship recon manual" mod (thinking that might pop it back up on my screen - nope.)

3) Deleting everything in my cache (it was empty already)

4) Disabling all my mods, completely uninstalling the game and reinstalling everything from scratch.

Nothing has worked. No book! I guess Ubisoft's online servers have saved my profile with the ID book "offscreen" and now there's no way to retrieve it again. I even had the bright idea to start a completely new profile with Ubisoft under a different login name. I figured that HAD to work - but it didn't. I can't start a new profile because my product code is already registered under my old profile name, and I can't use the same product code to set up a new profile. :damn:

So, I'm now at my wit's end and completely out of ideas. Can I even play this game without the book?

Anyone who can solve this mystery and find my missing manual will be right up there with Sherlock Holmes in my opinion.

Many thanks!

It worked! I bow to your wisdom sir - as well as TDW's. As far as I'm concerned, you're both like Sherlock's smarter older brothers.

:salute:

Worked for me too. I was pretty upset that just by dragging the SOAN off the screen to the right I lost it entirely. Thought I was going to have to reload everything (again).

So thanks for the tip!
