.Exe conversion
Anyone know how to change an .exe file into a .dmg for use on a Mac?
|
Isn't there a rename option when you right click?
Ohhhhhh..... that's right..... mac mice are for people who can only count to one :P Honestly I have no idea. |
I don't think you can convert it...that's why they always make Mac branded software for Mac...you can't run Windows software in a Mac OS environment.
|
OK.
The only reason I'm wondering is because a Mod for a game (CORE Mod for HOI2) uses an .exe to unbundle and instal. I wanted to know if there was a way to either convert it, or get at the files inside the .exe itself. |

The man will fill you in on that i'd hazard a guess. |
Great idea! Thanks a lot mate!

I thought running a windows emulator machine on a mac was a common thing? Wouldn't that work?
|
It is, but that requires buying a program, or halving my CPU resources which makes this thing run slower than it already does.

Check out FileJuicer.
It sounds like the file you describe is a self-extracting archive. If this is the case, FJ should be able to convert it into a zip. You may have to extract the files into the right folders by yourself. |
umm, I'm pretty sure this isn't possible
Windows programs usually can't just be "converted" to work on a mac |
I realize this tyrant. Which is why I just want to get at the files inside the .msi folder (had one of the modders who uploaded the original .exe file upload what he thought was a .dmg or .rar folder. It was just a (windows only) .msi folder. I just need to get inside that executable to get the files.

ah, so i suppose something like this?

yeah, I meant FJ can extract the included archives, not convert it into a running executable, but as the data is what's important, File Juice should be able to do the job.

Duel booting on the other hand is a much better solution with boot camp, you just have to have the Intel chip. http://download.cnet.com/Apple-Boot-...3_4-93144.html |
