Calculating speed on the Nav map....?

When I was a skipper on one of those shiny, new fleet boats I was able to work out speed with the chronometer whilst at the Nav map screen.

I assume I cant do this on these damn German tubs...would that be correct :hmmm: ?

You mean using the 3 minute 15 second rule?

Or do you mean by using the lines on the right of the map?

Edit: GWX manual pg 88 :D RTFM :D

Well, if you are using the 3mins 15 seconds rule and you don't have the draggable gwx stopwatch then you can just flick back and forth from the UZO/Scope screen to the nav map.

And if you mean the knots/time/distance scales on the nav map, then you just need to know two out of the three variables, and then draw a straight line through the two you know which will reveal the third.

I know how to do it.....just seems dumb that there is no clickable chrono whilst at the nav map station (using GWX and Magui 3.4).

I have a drag-able stopwatch but it doesnt do anything when you click it? :damn:

:agree:
It would be nice to have one. Maybe a real life stopwatch :hmmm:

Just been reading another post about it and it seems from the get go it never worked. OK that was back in 2005

Someone must have sorted it by now :03:

Yeah, it annoys me too, but I think it is just a limitation of the game engine which can't be worked around.

Although clicking the stopwatch in the periscope/UZO view to start the draggable one isn't that much of a bother...

I have a time application on my Android phone that I use for RC sailplane flying tasks. The timer is extremely configurable.

For instance, you can set the task for 3m15s and have it ring at 3.15, 6.30, 9.45, etc.

You can also have it sound an alarm a set period before the task ends and then count down the seconds till the 3.15 mark. So you can occupy yourself with other things and then get a 15-second warning to remind you it's almost time to mark the map.

I haven't used this with SH3 yet. But I suspect it'll be perfect for it.

Yep...I have a nice android app on my phone too....but the misses already thinks im a sad geek, sitting there with an external timer buzzing at me every 3.5 mins is not going to help my cause...:88)

I cant believe Ubisoft left it out......NUMPTIES

The draggable stopwatch is not clickable, unfortunately. You can only start/stop the watch in the UZO/Periscope screens. The draggable one is just a "repeater".

Well they fixed it in SH4, so they knew about the problem but wouldn't make the effort to fix SH3
BUMMER!
