I'm totally new...really

hello everyone, this is my first post here (obviously)

The thingy told me to talk about subsims that I like so.....ok

My first subsim was an old old game called aces of the deep for the ms-dos, and it's still one of my favorites, too bad i cant play it anymore (curse you vista!)

My second subsim was a free "still in the works" but technically dead fanmade subsim called dangerdeep, I would have enjoyed this game if it weren't for a few fatal flaws (crashing every 5 minutes, barely any missions, no career mode.) With any luck this sim will pick back up, but i'm not holding my breath.

And last (but not least) my most recent subsim (as in a few weeks ago recent) was silent hunter 3, yes I said 3, not four or five....my pc would explode if i tried to run something like them. Silent Hunter 3 is my favorite for now because it reminds me so much of Aces of the Deep, only better, I love how you can raise up your own crew, buy new u-boats or even make modifications to your current one. My girlfriend got it for me (via steam) on my 20th birthday, and aside from a few technical issues i'm having with it (which i'll be sure to bug you all about until you help me fix it :D) it's been a wonderful experience.

^
what a read huh? Anyway, now that I got that out of the way.....whats up?

WELCOME ABOARD! :sunny:

I go way back before AOD, but I have it and I still play it from time to time. I use DosBox on my XP rig, but the easiest thing might be to spend twenty bucks on an old computer that will run it.

Always a pleasure to have someone around who's recently re-discovered the simple joys of sub simming! That's how a lot, if not most of us, have ended up here. I hope you continue having fun, and of course welcome to the crew! :salute:

Welcome aboard :salute:... really :D

I'm sure all your problems can be solved in the SH3 thread, maybe even some to do with SH3 :rotfl2:

Thanks for the warm welcoming guys.

@Sailor Steve, I wasn't aware there were subsims before AOD, I'll have to do some research on that subject. As for dosbox I got a pretty well working version of AOD on it now, I'm just struggling when it comes to getting the sound to work. (what is it with me and computer technical issues?)

@Herr-Berbunch, I've already received a boat-load of help from the guys at the SH3 forum, so thank you all for that.
