South Korea-US drills begin despite North Korean threat
Large-scale military exercises involving American and South Korean troops have begun, prompting North Korea to threaten "all-out war".
The training drills are held every year and commanders insist they are purely defensive. But talks between North and South Korea aimed at easing tensions between the two countries broke down recently. Three months ago the North shelled a South Korean island, killing four people. The exercises on land, sea and in the air involve 200,000 South Korean troops and nearly 13,000 Americans - most of whom are not based in the country. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-12593727 Note: 28 February 2011 Last updated at 05:33 GMT |

You always knew a drill was coming when they launched what seemed like the entire freaking base at 3AM. F16's taking off with AB on rattles windows all over the base. At that point all you could do is either sit there , pull your pillow over your head in dread of the fire alarm bell that was coming (some asshat would always yank the fire alarm to wake up the barracks), or just get your ass up and get your **** on, and wait for the alarm. Either way, you were signing in to mobility at O Dark 30, for a fun filled day of sucking rubber. So yeah.. they do this ALL THE TIME. The DPRK is just being a whiny bitch. |
