save games will not load

G`day guys

I have an issue that when you save a game and then return it a couple of days later it will not load and the game will crash to desktop. Running windows 7 32 bit any suggestions?

Unfortunately corrupted savegames are a known issue with the game that has not yet been resolved.

The general consensus is that you'll have a better chance of avoiding them if you do not save submerged or within contact distance (visual or on the hydrophones) of any other units - planes, ships, whatever. Another rule of thumb is not to save when you are within 50 km of other units or land, but personally I've never had a problem just by following the "can't see 'em, can't hear 'em" rule.

It's also recommended that you not change any mods unless you are safely docked somewhere in between patrols or missions.

Even if you are very careful to follow those recommendations, though, sometimes bad saves just happen. If you have earlier saves you can try loading them, working backwards chronologically, until you find one that's good, and play from there.

I have recently had problems with saved game crashes. The game loads all the way to "not so long ago..." then crashes. I have read about not saving when submerged or in a harbor. I was operating west of Gibraltor, must have been too close. All other saved games farther out to open ocean loaded, didn't lose too much. I save every day or so of game time with a different file name to avoid losing too much if a corrupt save bites me.

Pretty much what Frau says.
If you are having problems, follow those rules

I've been extremely lucky though-I break everyone of those rules constantly and have never had a problem :smug:...well ok...I had a problem once.

Excuse me while I go find some wood to knock on.:sunny:

LOL...it would appear this is not a consistent fault/problem because it affects some but not others.

There must be something to this W Gibraltar thing. Avoided the saving underwater/close to land/ships and still got a corrupt save unless I went north to save, about the latitude of Lisbon, then everything saved fine.

Is the traffic is so high that everytime I saved there was a ship nearby (never did a hydrophone sweep) or is there a Gibraltar triangle where saved games dissapear ??

Bermuda Triangle may have been moved, joking apart, a disturbance in any way have been able, so that they have been backward a problem

I usually end up with 20-30 saves per patrol, as I save quite often. Usually a few hours after each battle, or at major checkpoints (after reaching patrol zone, passing a choke point straight, etc.)

That was you can work backwards as FK says until you find one that works. You won't lose as much time this way.

As mentioned, your first corrupt save will affect later saves, so just pray it's not the first save of a 80 day patrol.

EDIT: Fudge... didnt see the necro....

Wow! We got this omen in Russia also. Looks like this is international stuff.

Damn this savegame bug! I pruned the game :damn: two years ago bcz of it, but now want to retry it again. :hmmm:

WELCOME ABOARD! :sunny:

But...you're responding to a post made nine months ago, and I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about.

Madox58 01-13-12 06:12 PM

Seeing as he is responding to a save Game problems thread?
I'd bet he actually used the search function or browsed threads until he found something related.

Most times a new thread gets started and then everyone whines
"use the search" or post links to old threads.

And as this is a short thread with few postings?
It's pretty easy to figure out the intent without reading a gazillion posts.
:D
