So, it would seem that I can no longer access my youtuibe account unless I 'link' to a google account (which I do not have)

I don't have a google/gmail/yahoo account, nor do I want any of these things.

I have a youtube account and a hotmail address.

I just used an old email address.

Upon reflection, I think the answer is to create an insultingly named/addressed google account...

Something especially offensive, but worded to get around any profanity filter.

I'm not keen on all of this link everything together so 'all your information are belong to us' attitude from google.
I don't want to be coerced into the 'social network' and have to have yet another set of usernames and passwords to remember for something I will never ever want or use. Apart from you guys here and a couple of other forums etc I like to communicate with my friends in the old fashioned way... by talking to them down the pub or wherever.

There's a very good reason I don't have certain information (like my name and isp email for example) publicised online, not because I do illegal things, but because I like to keep a certain anonymity online - to avoid intrusive attempts to advertise stuff based on web history/interests.
Having the choice as to who I give my information to is something I consider to be quite important. And another thing - if I'm interested in finding out something online, guess what? I'll go and look for it when I want it. It's called initiative. I don't need initiative replaced by google's version of microsoft's paper-clip helper that tracks everything and everywhere I go in order to solicit yet more web spam I have no time for.

Oh, and because I can't log into my youtube account, I cannot delete it now either.

Thing is, I've got quite a lot of saved links on youtube for stuff that I am interested in and have collated over a reasonable length of time; bookmarks, user subscriptions, playlists, rare recordings as a list of records to track down and purchase, not to mention the wide variety of all things guitar related that I have learned from watching other musicians post... you know, all of that good stuff youtube got right just fine before.

Well, in that case, maybe you should just submit. :hmmm:

That's why I dumped facebook. The scary thing is, when I typed google's address at work, it new it was me and logged me into google.
