Why always storms?
Why does it seem my patrols in SH3 seem to begin in fantastic weather, clear sky, wind @ 0 m/s.
then after a week i'm into strong 15m/s winds, high seas and poor visibility, and it often remains this way, solidly for nearly a month, then it only eases when i'm on my way home back to base. :shifty: Anything I can do to tweak this? |
That's probably due to the fact that a.) It's winter or autumn, b.) you're patrolling the North-Atlantic / North-Sea.
The weather in Sh3 is IMO way too predictable. When you're up north and it's late in the year, weather always sucks. When you're traveling south towards Africa or South-America, weather is always beautiful and the sea looks like a swimming pool as someone here put it. I believe there is a weather tweaking tool somewhere here, but don't have a link. You might try using the search function on the forum. |
im now into June 1941 so I'll have to see. Most the wind's upto atm is 7 m/s which has left me chugging along in 1-2m seas.

When you start a patrol, the weather is calm because the land buffers the atmosphere.
The North Atlantic is the North Atlantic. It's not known for glass skies and flat seas. Although I have encountered this weather, it's uncommon. |
You got to take the rough with the smooth. :D

One trick I use to keep the good weather rolling is to save after two or three days while the weather is still good, and then reload the save. I usually get another three days of good weather that way. :)
And it works both ways. If you save while the weather is bad you will get a much longer period of bad (and possibly worsening) weather. |
