SH3 Weather Problem

So I have been having a problem with SH3 Weather that it seems to not want to
update the files at the start of the patrol. What I mean is I have a problem with it getting the weather. Lately it just doesnt work, I click heavy rain and heavy fog in calm seas (Which I have had work before) and I start the patrol, clear and unlimited visibility. This is really grinding my gears, any help guys??

You may have something conflicting (modwise) with it in your installation.

Disable all mods and add one at a time until you identify which one is causing the conflict.

PITA I know but probably the only way forward.

That's odd, since like Commander SH3 Weather is an external tool. I always start SH3 with Commander, and Weather comes up automatically as part of the loading process.

Is that the way it works for you?

Yes, unless im in mid patrol already (Then it bypasses Sh3 weather and puts me in the weather I was in when I saved.) It worked fine up until awhile ago, as youve probably read Ive had to do my share of uninstalling and re installing mods, commander and such to fix things like; No explosions underwater, commander not working right (Which your almost brand new ships list fixed, thank you Steve ), etc etc. The funny thing is, is right before I got it to work fine. I think I know what the problem is though, I believe I may have (when I reinstalled the game itself and GWX 3) just deleted the application (Instead of finding the uninstall button) of Sh3 weather. In cases before (With games per say) This makes hoodwinks the files somehow so that when I go to re install, it says its already there, but its not. Ill try and trouble shoot, I dont think its any of the mods Im running because Im not running anything different at all. And it happened Before I applied your new ships list. hmmm.....:hmmm:

Reece has a mod "Stop the Rain" which solves this problem.

He doesn't want to "Stop the Rain", he wants to have rain at the very start of the patrol, which is what SH3 Weather is supposed to do.

Its not even so much that, just the ability to choose the weaher before hand. Besides isn SH3 weather ALSO supposed to shorten weather cycles so storms only really last for a few days or a week at most instead of months on end??

Sailor Steve 02-20-11 05:31 PM

No. There is a 'Weather Fix' that comes with GWX that is supposed to do that, but SH3 Weather resets it so it works from stock. SH3 Weather only lets you set the start weather, nothing else.

Hmmm, well I might just stick with normal GWX then and not bother with Sh3 weather, Im tired of getting storms that give me low visibility for weeks on end lol. So Would I need to re install GWX because SH3 weather may have changed some files or anything?? I wouldnt think so since it was an external program right?

Uninstall SH3 Weather and GWX will/should overwrite any changes.

If you experience a CTD then uninstall GWX and then reinstall it.

That is what the "Stop the Rain" mod does.
When you have been in the bad weather for several days, you tab to desktop, install the mod, and resume the game with better weather. The game continues to change the weather on its schedule, so after a bit of time, you tab to desktop and deactivate the mod and the game gives you whatever the weather would be if you had played it for that period of time. The new weather will be random.
SH3Weather doesn't do a single thing to the weather after you have started the game. It merely changes it at the start.

The massive storms are really great, the best of both worlds (granted poor visibility isn't in any way ideal) in being able to cruise on the surface and get the benefit of your sonarman every few minutes when your boat get eaten by a massive wave.
