Anti-aliasing and sun halo with MaGui Widescreen

I have a GeForce 9600GSO for graphics and ever since installing MaGui Widescreen (the widescreen resolution fix .dll files are the culprit i think) I get no sun halo. I've tried nearly every single flat sun fix I can find to no avail. The only way I can get it to come back is by bringing AA down to 4x in nVidia control panel. Anything higher than 4x yields a golfball sun and jaggies on the horizon (no difference in image quality from 4x to 16x).

I did try nHancer...no luck with that. Anyone else having this issue with MaGui Wide and same graphics card? I have the latest drivers from nVidia and am getting great framerates (90+), but maybe it's time to upgrade the video card? Or else maybe someone else has some good settings that work? Or know why the mod is doing this?

While on the subject of FSFs, what do these exactly change in the atlantic/arctic/med .dat files to get the sun back? Just interested in how it is supposed to work, because none of them do for me. :hmmm:

EDIT: oh yeah and i should probably mention i'm running MEPv2.1 (16km)

EDIT 2: .....and GWX3 :salute:

Thanks guys.

I use the WS MaGUI and no problems with sun halo, but my graphic card is an ATI Radeon. I donīt use now the MEPv 2.1; I donīt remember if this environment have a fix for the sunhalo.

The WS MaGUI is for 1360x768 resolution, only.

Regards.

Hi !

Try the nHancer Settings from "rubini": http://174.123.69.202/~subsimc/radio...50&postcount=1

and the "Flat Sun Fix" for M.E.P. 2.1: http://www.filefront.com/14811891/fl....E.P-v2.1.rar/

Best regards,
Magic:salute:

i've tried both of these. nothing seems to work. I get the sun halo back when setting AA to 4x. anything more than that and it is a flat sun. Same results whether using nHancer or the regular nVidia settings.

It's always been a driver/card issue.

You simply have to tweak and play around with your settings till it works.

One of the inherited problems from way back! :arrgh!:

is it safe to say that the latest driver isn't necessarily the best driver?

Madox58 02-08-11 02:27 PM

Yep, that's a pretty safe thing to say.
I never upgrade drivers for GFX cards until several months after release.
I've been bitten to many times with the 'New Drivers' Blues.

subdragoon 02-08-11 02:32 PM

ok thanks. i guess i'll just have to keep messing with it. :salute:

I had the flat sun from day one!
Until some dude by the name OLC, came along, and made me enlist testing his first environmental mod. :arrgh!:

Later my sun got better...and the ocean started looked inviting...:sunny:
