ocean sound inside sub

hello guys.

right now i play sh3 + gwx gold + sh3 commander

Also :

-m.e.p 3 + m.e.p sensors for gwx
- gwx enhanced damaged effects
- fm_new interiors

but when the kaleun goes to bed he still hears the ocean waves and the wind. this is not normal and a possible bug from the stock game (?)

anyone knows how to solve this? i need some rest after a long period on the bridge and those sounds are hunting me :dead:

PS : the wind and ocean sound persists even if i dive

In my experience it's not unusual to still hear some "ocean" sounds when inside the boat while running on the surface, however if you are hearing the same "full on" sea/wind/weather sound fx inside the boat that you can hear when up on the bridge with no noticeable difference - yes, that is a known stock game bug. From the GWX manual:

Quote:

You should hear the whistling from high winds only on the bridge; however, you can sometimes hear it at every crew station inside the U-boat, even when you are submerged. This is a known Silent Hunter III issue with some sound cards that you can usually alleviate by using the Windows Control Panel (Sounds and Audio Control panel) to reduce by one level the degree of hardware acceleration used by your sound card. Failing that, you can correct the problem at least temporarily by saving your game and then exiting and restarting Silent Hunter III.

thank you. it seems i have no choice but to save and restart :stare:

:o Shock horror!!!

In regards to the wind in the sub, and I don't mean too many beans, it's often attributed to alt tabbing in and out of the game. Someone suggested at some point that by going to the hydrophone station and pausing before alt tabbing seemed to stop this from occurring, although I've had it happen to me (only once or twice) and I run the res fix which makes alt tabbing not possible for me. Also I believe it has to do with TC when changing from bridge to interior, try and avoid changing from the bridge to the command room or any other screen to be safe, while you are at anything other than 1x TC.

I don't know if it can be pinned down to any one cause, I'm guessing it's a combination of something in the game and an individual's system, which hardware is there and what the settings are for it. I switch from bridge to the other stations and back all the time, and I'm usually running at 128 TC when patrolling - the switch sometimes brings the TC down to 1 or 32 or whatever depending on which station I switch to, but I don't bother doing it manually at all. And I've encountered this "bug" only two or three times.

Never tried the thing with hardware acceleration, if I encounter it again I may give that a go. I've always just saved and reloaded, and since it hardly ever happens that's not been much of an annoyance. If it were happening all the time it would be a real PITA though.
