Set in 2030?

So, my big question, will the game include emerging techs such as this?

As far as I know (what I've read from Paradox forums) only weapons that exist in either design desk or are fully implemented to ships today will be in the game. So regular missiles, depth charged, torpedos and so on. Although lasers and railguns aren't totally impossible as there is such in developement..

railgun budget was cut off...

Depth charges have been completely phased out by anti-submarine rockets, as far as I know. They may still be carried on older (WWII era) ships that small navies have acquired though.

If the game is set in 2030 what about the new units proposed by all sides that will be around in 2015 forward? can you also play as the UK? and i cant forsee the kuznetsov being around in the Russian navy in 2030 thier plan is to replace it with 2 carriers (it was 6 but the reduced to 2 on budget plans).

Also alot of the russian units are old sovvys and krivaks for the looks of it and these are all slated to go by 2015 2020 i shall invest in the game anyway as the game looks pretty good.

1. You can play as the UK.

2. The Kuznetsov will be in the game, as there is not enough info on the future Russian carriers yet.

3. The Russian surface units in the game are: Kuznetsov class carrier, Kirov class battlecruiser, Slava class cruiser, Udaloy II class destroyer, Admiral Sergey Gorshkov class frigate, Steregushchy class corvette, and Mirka class missile boat. :ping:

Naval Holiday

Well, the game looks interesting, but I have to agree that by 2030 most of the ships I've seen depicted in the game will probably be scrap. It seems the worlds Navys in this game took a Naval Holiday or something due to the lack of new construction for the next 20 years. I have serious doubts that this is what would be expected as cutting edge in 2030. Also don't see much here that wasn't done already in Fleet Command. I'm sure if its moddable the guys at the Naval Warfare site will make some big changes in it. Don't know if I'll buy it or not, depends on the price and value for the dollar. I basically took the old HPS Jutland game and modded it for my own personal use as a modern naval sim, with new sound effects and ship art that works pretty good for surface and sub combat, so I may pass on this one. Just my two-cents.:hmmm:

Be assured that the units were thoroughly researched. The US isn't planning any new ships except for the Gerald Ford class, which didn't make the cut because of the developers' budget limitations. Plenty of near-future units from other countries are in the game, and as for most of the future units that WEREN'T included, there is not enough information on them to acceptably represent them in the game. The game costs 20 USD.

You are not talking about the time spend in learning and playing this game!
